Finding a Horse Society - Tips to Help You Locate a Horse Association

Updated on September 21, 2011

Horse societies, more commonly referred to as horse associations, offer a great amount of resources for horse enthusiasts. Horse breeders often use these associations to sell more horses. Horse associations can be located by using a few different tactics. It may take a little time to find the one that is right for you.

  • Visit horse races and shows frequently and talk to people. Some of those in attendance may be aware of horse societies or associations in the area. Ask them what is required to become a member of the association. Document any information they provide.
  • Look up the phone numbers of horse breeders in the phone book. Call them and ask if they are aware of any horse associations in the surrounding area. Quality horse breeders often join associations to market their horses.
  • Talk to friends or family members that own horses to see if they know anything about horse associations in the region. It is possible that they are currently members of a horse association. Knowing someone in a society or association could give a person a better chance of becoming a member.
