Gifts For Dog - 5 Practical Ideas!

Updated on November 21, 2013

Gifts For Dog - Any Dog

When you are buying a gift for a dog, you have a wide array of dog gifts to choose from. Squeaky toys, fake bones, and funny clothes are all common gifts for dogs. Some gifts, like dog food or collars are often frowned upon because the gifts do not always match the owner’s preference. However, some dog gifts are more practical and appreciated, and this article will focus on those gifts.

1. A Dog Bed

Dog lovers usually have many places for their dogs to rest or sleep. The human couch and bed are typically acceptable places for any loved dog to lie. However, many different dog beds can often be found around the house as well.

There is never a point where there are too many dog beds, because they can be used in the bedroom, kitchen, living room and any other room that is frequented by the pet owner. One dog bed per room is not uncommon, but it can be expensive to fill a house with dog beds. Therefore, most people will love the gift of a dog bed.

2. A Grooming Gift Basket

Many dog owners groom their dogs on a daily basis. Even dogs with shorter hair require some sort of grooming. Making a gift basket that incorporates various supplies such as clippers, shampoo, deodorizer, and brushes will be very much appreciated by any dog owner! Just make sure to tailor the gift basket to the dog. For instance, a short-haired dog will not need dog clippers.

3. Dog Pen

Many dog owners make their lives harder than they have to be by not owning a dog pen. A dog pen can help them keep their dog safe in the house while they are out or provide a safe place to keep their dog outside in open areas. Most dog owners will not buy a dog pen for themselves; therefore, a dog pen is a great gift that they will quickly learn to love.

4. A Collapsible Bowl

Many dog owners find themselves out during hot days with their dogs, but without any container to give the dogs some water. A collapsible bowl is the perfect solution to this problem. It will store easily in a backpack or in a cars glove box, and it can be pulled out and used to hydrate or even feed a dog at any time.

This dog gift will come in handy for anyone who frequently walks their dog, takes their dog on long trips, or camps with their dog. However, it can also be used around the house as an extra bowl that is easy to store away.

5. Doggy Dental Kit

Many pet owners do not take care of their dog’s teeth by brushing them, which can result in large bills for them down the road due to health issues. However, even some owners who do take care of their dogs teeth can use a fresh supply of dental tools. Whether they currently use dental tools on their dogs or not, both the pet owner and the dog will benefit from receiving this kind of gift.

So remember, the next time a special occasion arises that calls for a dog gift to be bought, buy something more practical. This way, your gift will have a better chance of being used, and your gift will benefit the dog and the owner.

Yes that's true Lady. My Miniature Pinscher just got a brand new (huge) bed and my Schnauzer got a double sided toothbrush...not hard to figure out who was happier.

Very sweet gifts. I'm sure the dog would know it's a gift too and be happy for no. 1,2,3 and 4. He'll be curious at No 5. ;-)
