How to catch a polar bear

In 1963 it was legal to kill a polar bear in Alaska. We would go to an area above Fairbanks where there were a lot of polar bears. We would go in a large four wheel drive truck. We would dig a big hole in the ice. Then we would open two or three cans of Green Giant peas. The peas would be sprinkled around the ice hole. We put a large white cover over the truck so it looked like a mound of snow. We got in the truck and waited for the bear to arrive. When the bear came to take a pea we would get out of the truck and kick the bear in the ice hole. You can't do that anymore, polar bears are a protected species now.
