Best Reasons To Own a Golden Retriever

A Golden Retriever Is The Best Family Dog

Your Golden will be your new best friend. Mine is and I'm the luckiest dog owner. I love my dogs to pieces and would do anything for my dogs. I have (2) golden retrievers and let me tell you, they are the best breed to ever own. If you want unconditional love and faithfulness, these are the kind of dogs to get. They are both equally loved, just two different personalities.

I've had a few health issues over the past years and my dogs follow me everywhere in the house. In fact, as I sit here on the couch writing this, I have one at one end of the couch, and the other on the floor next to me.

I guess I was wondering if anyone else out there has an opinion on whether or not they think their dogs love them? Better yet, do you think your dog knows how much YOU love THEM?

I believe my dogs love me unconditionally and I honestly think they know how much I love them. They have that certain look in there eye that lets me know they love. Daddy is for playing with and rolling on the floor, and mom is for taking care of me. Each Golden has a personality like no other. It's like their a person, and I'm not overstating this. A Golden is so dedicated and wants to please you. All they require besides the normal food and medical needs and exercise, is Pure Love. That's it, nothing else. Just love. They practically beg for it 24 hours a day. They will not leave your side and they have to be touching you in some sort of way, even if its their foot, it will be touching you. Their love and affection is like no other and is total unconditioned. Please remember this: it doesn't matter whether you have a Golden Retriever or a pet fly, all animals need love and attention just like you do.

Golden Retriever and Other Dog Problems

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of, not just with Goldens. This is for any dog,and I am sharing the information as a dog owner. Be aware of hot spots from flea bites and large dog owners especially, need to be watchful of dog elbow calluses. Both of that information can read on my other articles found below:

Dog Calluses On Elbows

Adopt A Golden Retriever

Adopting a Golden will be the best small investment you will ever make. I would hate to see a Golden puppy put down because of an irresponsible owner that didn't get them spade or neutered and could not adopt one out. They aren't that expensive as pups. You could get a registered Golden in the paper for $300 to $400. Make sure you just don't adopt a Puppy of any kind, not just a Golden, from anyone. Any person can sell a litter of pups! It's not hard to let your animals do all the work and you just put them in the paper for sale. Make sure to go to the breeder's home and look at the surroundings and get paper work for shots and anything else to make sure they have taken care of the pup.

Final Thought

I love my dogs and I hope if you have animals, you love them too. It breaks my heart to see the animal cruelty on television and I look at my dogs and wonder how anyone can ever abuse an animal as I believe they know if you don't want them. If you don't love your animal, then please put it in the paper for a small amount of money like 10 dollars or take it to a no kill animal shelter. The animal is better off and has a better chance at life if you take him to someone else.

A dog needs 3 things in life:

  1. Love

  2. Food

  3. Water

The rest is just common sense. Play with them, get them medical attention if needed and don't abuse them. Most of all, truly love them. Don't just get a dog and throw them in the backyard with a fence around it and let them stay outside all day/night or in a dog house to live.

I had a Golden Retriever. He was interesting. He was loyal but just confrontational with me. He was great though. They are great personalities. Beautiful writing.

I would be more than happy to check your hubs out. I love my animals. These pics were from when they were pups. I have to upload recent ones. They are almost 7 and 8 now.

I love reading about dogs...any dogs. Your dogs are adorable, and I'm sure they love you, too. My Miniature Schnauzer loves me. She knows I love her too. I've written several Hubs about my dogs. Check them out when you have the time. Bye for now.

Your dogs are so cute! These are some of the sweetest dogs. I've never owned one, but have worked with a couple. I believe dogs need and give love like you said. When the kids are at school, our youngest dog mopes until they come home. I try to play with her, but she needs the kids. I love her even more because she is so close with them. Voted up!

My neighbor has a golden retriever who is the best loved dog in the community. Love the video and it shows how much a dog has to be focused to understand all the training commands. Your dogs are blessed to have you as their master. Enjoyed reading your hub.

Your dogs are adorable! And what cute puppies. The bottom puppy picture looks like it could have been my dog as a puppy. I thought my dog was a golden retriever mix, but the groomer said he was probably a tan collie.

thank you for sharing your story Gmagoldie. I agree that they are my life. I am truly blessed for both of them. Although one is a little more of a trouble maker-ie; ripping anything up when I leave even for a few minutes. They don't like to be left alone and are truly dedicated.

      weezychannel,

OMGoodness - I love goldens. My two goldens were the love of my life and I simply would not be here without them. Gordie and Dusty were simply the best.

Dogs are our furry angels here on earth. Our pastor has a sign at the front of his home - be the person your dog think you are! Oh, so wise.

I miss my boys tremendously . The photos you had of the puppies so remind me of my cherished boys. One was an angel - could do no wrong - the other was handsome and he knew it and took every opportunity to be mischievous.

Dogs NEED exercise - just like us humans.

Our favorite activity during the winter was to drop everything during a snowstorm. The earlier in the morning the better - that way I would be sure to get to work on time.

I miss them every season but especially during the snow falls they loved so well.

Thank you for your comment and thanks for complimenting the dogs, I will take that too! yes, they are adorable and they are my life (besides my son)of course!!. I don't know what I am going to do when their life span is over. I really don't think another one could ever replace what I have with them. :)

I am convinced that a dog knows and understands it's master's love for him and in return they give their unconditional love and loyalty, they really are man's best friend.

      Your dogs look adorable.
