Unconditional Love

Out for a stroll tonight under a canopy of stars Bella and I are breathing some pretty cold air while the wind is dancing around us. It is awesome how even when I am tired nature has a way of wrapping her arms around me transferring energy of Light into the very core of my being. It leaves me feeling so alive and wanting to explore looking to reach out touching more.

So off we went into the night to do just that explore in the darkness of the evening hours with my Bella leading the way. Not too long into our adventure I thought to myself how readily I give up control to Bella to weave me around the neighborhood at night. Gosh, how I totally trust her to keep us safe.

Visualize if you may my Bella sniffing the ground and I of course stopping at every street corner to smell a wilted rose bud hanging on a snow covered branch. We must make a pretty funny sight to anyone paying attention to our nightly ritual… the two sniffers a sniffing.

Amazingly Bella and I have developed a mutual respect for each other’s needs; we both wait patiently for each other through our sniffing process. I have no idea how Bella feels with each new smell she inhales, but for me to smell a rose hanging on for dear life at this time of year is truly a gift from the heavens above. It is the cherry on the cake that gives me that extra boost of joy allowing my spirit to soar.

As our stroll into the night progresses we eventually make our way to the park where I find myself heading to my swing with a huge smile on my face. It has been a long time since I have viewed the night’s starry sky upside down while swinging. It is a magical experience to be lost in the stars against the darkness of the night’s sky, with the wind in the backdrop chanting away.

Bella by now curious as to what I am doing decides to approach me with caution as my swing starts to settle down. Lickety-split before I can turn my head right side up there she is sneaking in to greet me with one of her wet dog licks right on my lips. Giggling, I am honestly beginning to wonder if she can read my mind.

After many steps tonight we have made our journey homeward and now are inside cuddled together the two of us in bed. Bella is at my feet waiting patiently once again for me to close my lap top. Her goal is to sneak up as close to my face as she can get to settle in for the night. I wait for her one big dog sigh a few moments later, and she then closes her brown eyes drifting off to doggie dream land...soon she is fast asleep.

As I lay here in bed petting Bella’s head watching her breathe I realize how she is the last touch of love I feel before I close my eyes to chase my dreams in sleep. How Bella is also the first touch of love that greets me at the dawn of each new day.

As the chapter for this day comes to a close I feel so grateful to God that He paired the two of us up. How He knew we each needed to be saved, to be loved and gifted with trust.

My heart in prayer thanks God for giving me to Bella tonight...we make such an awesome pair!

Bella is an amazing companion Audrey. I think at times she is more human than dog. We have a mutual respect for each others needs that is for sure! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with us! xo

What a sweet story. I feel the same way about my dogs. My older dog passed away last year and every once in a while there will be some reminder that makes me tear up a little. Somehow the younger one knows and comes right over to lick my face and comfort me. She's such a sweetheart; we definitely can read each other's minds. I hope you and Bella have many wonderful years together.

      Hello, picadilly,

I am so glad that our paths crossed. You have softened my heart at a time when I needed that to happen.

Lately, I have become far too "testy" around here, ranting and raving about political stuff.

However, after learning about you and the kind and loving person you are, and after receiving some very good advice from one of my other friends here on the site, I am switching gears.

I am going to get back to writing about inspirational things.

Hi Feenix! We have gifted each other today as I thoroughly enjoyed your submission also. My life is very simple, school, work and Bella. She saved my life three years ago with her presence and 8 months later I got to return the favor and save hers when she became ill. We are inseperable...love is life in my heart and life is love...Bella is part of both!

      Have a wonderful day!!! xo

I was mentally and emotionally with you on the journey you and Bella took. When I'm on my laptop, Dexter is touching my feet and Jasmine is ticked off that I'm not spending time petting her as she jumps nonstop at my thigh. When my daughters were little girls our golden retriever, Daisy Mae, made a point each evening to first lay down with my oldest, then in the middle of the night she would sleep with the middle daughter and every morning when my youngest woke up, Daisy was curled up next to her. Dogs rule!

P..You and i have much in common! My Tiger-girl, or Ti-girl(90lb blacklab/dobieX) - always gets full control and i trust her totally. She will be 13 soon and as i watch her breath beside me in bed, i am sooo thankful to still have her. She is my soul-puppy, as Bella is yours - and there is no better! Beautiful!
