Mixed Breed-Yorkie Poo

Updated on June 20, 2013

History of YorkiePoos

Yorkie Poos are a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a poodle. It has a life span of 15 years, and its weight is usually under 15 pounds. These dogs are better in homes with adults, young adults, and older children because of there sometimes short tempers. They are easily trained and absorb information quickly from a young age.

Grooming

Many people say you should only wash your dog every couple of months but I feel that is not enough. Yorkie poos have longer hair and it sometimes its curly like my dogs, stuff will get stuck in her hair which means she needs to be bathed more often. You also need to keep your dog groomed by getting their hair cut every couple of months. Especially because the hair gets in their hair and if it gets to long they can not see. Your dog groomer will cut it long enough so they will be warm enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer. You should also brush your dog every few days, mostly around the times when they need a hair cut because their hair can get knotty very quick.

Training

Training Yorkie poo's is pretty easy but they sure love to bark. My dog will bark at just about anything that moves. She is getting older and I do not know if it is because she is getting older where she does what she wants more often now, but I notice her barking more. When training this type of dog you have to let them know right off the bat you are the alpha male/female, and they must listen to you. Along with other dogs you have to keep up with the work of teaching them what to do and what not to do. Keep the same tone, and eye contact with them so they do not get scared or get the wrong idea.

Yorkie Poo Conclusion

I love my yorkie poo, she does do things now that she is older to irritate me but I love her and would not give her up for anything. My opinion is I would not leave young children alone with these or any other types of little dogs just because they are territorial and do not like children in their faces which is what tends to happen. These are good family dogs because one they live longer lives then bigger dogs, and two they are very good dogs to cuddle with.

I love my yorkie poo! She is incredibly intelligent, and therefore we cannot train her at all. She only listens to me and loves me the most, and she is very obvious about it. She does not get along with other females, and tolerates male dogs. She loves male humans and ignore female humans, I have no idea why! She is DEFINITELY a hand ful. But her son, a yorkie poo maltese mix, is very docile, sweet, dumb, easy to train, and loving to everyone. Also scared of everyone. I guess she's just insane!

No longer a yorkie poo fan 3 years ago

My yorkie poo is crazy. He jumps on everyone and won't stop biting and licking and barking through the night. He races throughout the house daily. He's potty trained, but still poops and pees in other places he's marked in different areas of the house and he smells awful.
