You Too Can Have Unconditional Love

Are you lonely? Maybe you have lost a loved one, and you feel like your world is never going to be the same. Or, perhaps like so many people today, you are still looking for the "right one", but the search has been going on for years with no end in sight. Or, another scenario, you find yourself alone because you had to move far away from family and friends to pursue an education or the career of your choice. Whatever slot you find yourself in, you know just one thing, at the end of the day you are coming home to an empty house and you don't like it.

More people live alone than ever before, and while some people enjoy being alone, most do not. Websites, like and eharmony are a symptom that people are not happy in their aloneness and want to do something about it. Some people do meet and marry others they find online, but many do not. These lonely people are often giving up and resigning themselves to a life lived solo. It is sad, but there is always a solution if you just stay open minded.

A few years back I found myself alone for the first time in my adult life. Because I had my dogs with me, I never felt "alone". And, my dogs protected me. I felt very safe even though I was alone in the middle of nowhere.

Many people completely overlook this source of unconditional love. A dog will always love you unless you mistreat it. Dogs are also loyal, once they bond with you, you are their favorite person forever. If you are not a dog person, or do not have room for a dog, you can always get a cat. Cats are also good company, and can be just as loving and devoted as any dog. I have had plenty of cats who were anything but uppity. Cats are a good choice if you don't want to go through housebreaking a dog or taking the dog out for walks. As long as you have a clean litter box, a cat will use it.

Now maybe you are thinking....there are no pets allowed where I live. Well, guess what? Many places that do not allow pets, will allow a guinea pig. Guinea pigs are absolutely wonderful pets! Guinea pigs are big in the UK. Princess Diana had a beloved guinea pig. Guinea pigs are the easiest pets to take care of. You simply place them in a clear tote box with food, hay and water, and you are done. Every other day you clean them out, which takes all of 2 minutes. Guinea pigs are clean little animals, and only soil one corner of their cage, so clean up is a simple matter of scooping out the bedding in that corner and replacing it with clean. Once a week the whole cage should be cleaned out. A guinea pig makes a great first pet for children aged 8 and up. They are gentle, lovely, sweet little creatures, and all the little squeals and oinks they make for food are extremely endearing. They like to be held, and they will sit around and watch TV with the family. If you have more than one guinea pig, you can even hold a guinea pig race. They can run very fast on their strange little legs. Guinea pigs come in a huge range of colors and sizes. There are a variety of breeds, but they all have the same loving and gentle personality. I have yet to meet a mean guinea pig! They are very social animals, so that means you have to pay plenty of attention to them, and have play time everyday. A guinea pig can bring a smile to the face of even the most lonely, depressed person.

So, if you are lonely, think about getting a pet. For millions of people a pet enriches their lives to a great degree. Next time you are feeling down and blue, and you feel like giving up on love forever, go to the humane society or guinea pig rescue and see what they have. Somewhere out there is a furry little friend that has unconditional love in its heart just for you!

      I don't believe I have ever seen this Hub before...what a treat!

You are so right about furry little friends, my dove, and how much joy they can bring into one's life.

In fact, the great reformer, Martin Luther, said "Dogs have all the virtues of man, but have none of their vices."

I have always been an ardent admirer of the canines in particular, but it has only been in the past 10 years that I have learned to enjoy the company and quirks of the feline. And, who can say anything but good things about those precious little "pleasure piggies", especially when they dress themselves in cooking apparel!

By the way, Heidi has got to be the cutest little fur muffin I have ever seen...what an absolute doll! Takes after her mother no doubt.

I sure do miss you, Maggnoliazz. I just hope and pray that you are in a good place mentally, spiritually, and physically. So, wherever you are, and whatever you may be doing, I just pray that The Almighty and His Son are with you and you are walking closely with Them.

      Best wishes - L.R.

I'm alone in my house since my husband died in 1999 and my 2 daughters left to pursue their studies away from home. I'm now a retiree. The girls have now good-paying jobs away from home.I really don't feel lonely now.

I have adjusted to a new lifestyle, blogging, hubbing, singing, out-of-town escapades with my children on occasion- that's when I'm not in pain. Haha! I'm suffering from diabetic peripheral neuropathy that often cuts me off from my laptop.

But, I'm glad I have this worthy writing leisure on top of my church activities. Gives life a new lift. Glad to have found friends here at HP like you. Thank you.

Your daughter is very, very lucky to have a father like you! Why is it, the girls always take after the father and the sons after the mother?

Lots of people have complicated marriages. People just grow up and mature and are not the same people as when they were young, there is nothing wrong with that. I think marriage is a difficult thing, even for people who are truly in love, many, many things can go wrong, and often do.

I think you should get a cat, they are very good company nad easy to care for. I take in all kinds of strays, I can't stand the thought of animals hungry and out in the cold. When you help out a stray animals they give back so much love.
