Oliver is my name I am a shihpoo - shih tzu toy poodle cross and these are my very own adventure stories!
Olivers very own Adventure story
I would like to share some of the adventures that I have had in the past 4 years, most of them were great, but a couple were lessons well learned the hard way.
My life is always interesting, sometimes very exciting and always busy with something new to see and do every day. Being brought up in the Countryside I get to see and do a lot of things that City dogs never experience, sadly a lot of them only have small backyards and are surrounded by fences,so there is nothing exciting or interesting for them to see, which makes me a little sad. So here are a couple of the fun and not so fun things that I have experienced.
Every morning and evening my dad and sometimes my mum go down to the river, Walking is good exercise, and it keeps us all fit and healthy, and it is so beautiful down by the River. We watch all the different types of birds flying around, sometimes I think to my self, that looks like a lot of fun, maybe I will learn to fly one day. We also see fish jumping out of the water, that's ok, but water is not my favorite thing.
My dad takes his camera to photograph the bird life and other interesting animals. I run and play and roll around and have such a great time with my canine and human friends. It is just the best.
Oliver and the Cow
On one particular day we were walking up the dirt road that runs by the river and there were these big black/brown animals with long legs. Fortunately there was a fence between them and us. I was told that they were Cows, They were really huge in size compared to me, and with their big eyes they were just standing there looking at me looking at them.
Well after awhile it just got too much... nothing was happening, so being fearless and brave ( in hindsight not so brave at all), I barked at them, well they took off one way and I took off the other, they scared the Dickins out of me,they also make this very, very loud noise, much louder than my bark,I did not like it,and that scared me even more, luckily my dad was close by and picked me up and cuddled me, as my heart was thumping almost out of my chest.
After I calmed down I got the BIG lecture about barking at cows, horses, sheep etc.
It was just NOT acceptable behaviour. I got that message loud and clear, so home we went, with my tail between my legs, feeling very sorry for my self, and I promised my dad and myself that I would never do that again,as it was really no fun at all and the wrong thing to do. A lesson learned well.
Oh well tomorrow is another day, clean slate so to speak :).
Oliver discovers Cows !!!
Oliver loves the sand
Oliver meets water
I go everywhere with my mum and dad. One of my favorite places is the beach, where I can run like crazy in the sand, and it feels great when it slides thru my paws. The air is so clean and fresh and the smell of salt water is wonderful. It makes me feel so happy and free.
Now everyone knows how much I hate water, so what does my mum do? yes she picks me up and puts me on the very edge of the water, It did not even cover my toes,Like that's not the point, I was standing in 1mm of water and was not a happy chappy, so I did what I do best and ran like the wind, I still had my retractable lead on, so she did not have to run too far to catch me.
Mum has never done that again,so I guess I won that one.:) any way all is forgiven now.
Oliver and his mate
Oliver is not a happy camper
Well this next adventure will grab all my Canine and Feline friends.
My mum and dad told me that they had to go away for just a COUPLE of days and that they could not take me with them, also that I would be going into a kennel (I didn't have a clue what that was) so they took me out to this place to check it out first, to make sure it was suitable and introduce me to the lady that ran it.
THEY decided it was nice, clean and a caring place, so booked me in for the following week for FIVE DAYS well even I know 5 is more than a couple, so the next week comes, my bed, toys blankets and everything else my mum could think of was packed into the car along with me and off we go.
Well we arrive, everything she had packed along with me was taken into the office, then another lady came and took me and my luggage into my new home for FIVE WHOLE days. My pen-pal was a little girl, her name was cloe.
I liked her,so I was thinking this isn't going to be too bad after all.
We had a day pen with a daybed and at night another pen with your own personal bed and stuff and that pen door was closed, so that it was nice, cosy and warm, also during the day we were allowed to run and play in a nice grassed area:).
The food was different, it actually came out of a tin and a packet, had not had that before. My mum always cooks my food, like chicken with fresh veg, pasta rice or mashed potato, but anyway I got used to it... I do love my food.
All in all it was an enjoyable experience, but I am not going to tell my mum and dad that.
What they are going to hear is that this adventure is a "one off" and will not be repeated.
"That sounds tough doesn't it" I guess time will tell if I win that one.
My kennel stay was pretty good on the whole, but I did miss my mum, dad and friends a lot.
I now have a "girlfriend" she moved in across the road a little while ago(oh she is beautiful, blonde and about the same size as me). We meet up every morning and afternoon to play and run around, sometimes she comes to my home and sometimes I go to her,s, it is great fun, she kisses and licks me all the time,I get a little shy and don,t want to hurt her feelings by asking her not to do that all the time, guess I will figure it out sooner or later.
All this thinking and dictating has made me very tired.
I hope you enjoy reading some of this particular shipoos personal adventures. Bye for now "Oliver".
