This was a fun and informative article. I cannot imagine a domestic cat that weighs over 46 pounds, however. My Grandma's cat hates the sound of the vacuum cleaner, yet if her hearing is as good as this article claims, I can understand why she might. Thank you for sharing.

"10. A brain of a cat is more similar to a man’s brain than that of a dog’s brain." Do you mean that:

      1. a cat’s brain resembles a man’s brain more than a dog’s brain resembles a man’s brain; or

      2. a cat’s brain resembles a man’s brain more than it resembles a dog’s brain; or

      3. in this case If a=b and b=c, then a=c?

      15. If close to 10% of all of a cat’s bones are in its tail, then a Manx cat has only 90% of its bones.

Of all the billions of cats in this world, two of them reside in my house. Loved it, especially the photos.

Gorgeous, I am a breeder and can inform you of some other facts. My cats mate when their last litter is 8 weeks old, they suffer morning sickness the same as humans although usually only for a day or so, and they love to be cuddled when in labor. They also 'tune in' to their human to the extent that they are so closely bonded and react to his/her movements. They make their needs known by certain actions and noises. Oh. I didn't mention their love and need for affection. I have one of my cats drooling all over me and trying to hug me while I am typing. Just a few of the things I enjoy about my little mates.

My MIL cat may have beat the heaviest cat record. She always put love and food together and way overfed it. When the vet told her it weighed too much she was offended and angry.

You've listed some facts that I didn't know. This is a good hub.

As an avowed cat lover, I can attest to the cat fact I know best: Cats sleep ~70% of their lives... I have one who's working on increasing that average to 90% :)

Cats heal amazing fast from injury. They lay low while they heal. Our 16 year old tabby was recently attacked by something that bit his foot. His bones were broken in three places. The vet said there is an old saying among vets..."put two cat bones in a room and they will find each other in no time"...meaning that cats heal amazing fast from broken bone injuries. Boy was he right. He was up and walking around within 2 weeks. His foot will never be the same, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

I love cats. They share my life and I cannot imagine walking through this world without them. Among them we do have a polydactyl. Every time we believe we know how many toes total he has, we go to clip his nails and discover he has a baby toe with a claw that we didn't know about. He was a neighborhood stray who decided to stay. We have also had one that broke her tail so I do know about the bones in the tail. I enjoyed your facts!
