Scrappy Jack The Schnauzer
Meet Scrappy Jack!
Scrappy Jack was a purebred white Miniature Schnauzer living in Omaha, Nebaska. He had a very unique life because his mommy runs a miniature schnauzer rescue! For his whole life, Scrappy was the "boss" who showed the newcomers the ropes, and he did a very good job.
I bought Scrappy Jack as an 8 week old puppy from a kennel in Omaha before I learned there were Miniature Schnauzers in rescue. He lived to age 13 and had quite the interesting life with us! His favorite thing in the world besides being held by Mommy was playing Hedgehog. He would stand and "honk" his hedgehog toy for the longest time. I guess he just really loved hedgehogs... or the noise!
Scrappy was one of those dogs who was just a good ol' boy. He never caused any trouble, he wasn't really a barker, and he just loved being one of the doggie gang and being loved. I adored him.
Where Scrappy Came From....
A few of Scrappy Jack's favorite things
My daughter, Carianne, talked me into going to look at puppies one day - I saw this tiny little white schnauzer pup just 8 weeks old and I totally caved. That was, of course, before I knew miniature schnauzers were in rescue.
How Scrappy Got His Name
I remember Cari and I were sitting in the car at Baker's grocery, talking about what to name the puppy. I always like "S" names, and Cari wanted to name him Jack. I was just as determined that would NOT be his first name, so I encouraged her to come up with one like "Scooby," etc. Well that led to thinking of Scrappy, and thus Scrappy Jack came about. Mostly around the house he goes by "Scrap." Here he is soon after coming home.
Scrappy's Favorite Things
Scrappy loves to have me hold him on his back on my lap and put him to sleep! He will kick his feet until I grab hold of both his rear feet. Then I pet him on his shoulder and say "nigh-night" and within a minute, his eyes will close and he will fall sound asleep! Kind of a neat parlor trick, telling visitors you could put your dog to sleep instantly! His next favorite thing is getting a bathie, because he loves the back massge with the shampoo brush while his medicated shampoo sits the required 10 minutes. Scrappy also has always loved getting hold of an empty milk bottle! He'll chase it all over the place.

The thing I love most...
I love how Scrappy snuggled against me when I held him. You can tell he was happy to have his mama.

SJ had an online "wife" Koko (whom he has never met!) living in upstate New York, and they had one stuffie toy together, Baby. They enjoyed an online relationship for many years.
Sadly, Koko went to Rainbow Bridge in late 2012. We miss her dearly!
