Dog Owners Need Training
Love your Dog? Respect Thy Neighbor!
We happen to live on a corner, where many walkers, dog walkers pass by. The neighborhood is very dog friendly. We have lived in the house for awhile and have gotten to know most dog walkers. Many of them say, " Hi!" Our dog Casey will run over and sniff the dog walking by to say, "Hello!" Our home is pretty visable from the intersection with no shrubs in the front edge of curb.
Why do people think it is ok to allow their dog to poop in someone else's yard? We play with Casey daily in the yard and we have our favorite game of fetch. We do not want to step in your dog poop. It is my yard, not a public toilet.
Today, while playing fetch, Casey started sniffing & rolling in the grass. I did not think anything of it, until the smell of poop caught my attention. A poop stench! I was puzzled because, I did not see any poop in the middle of my yard. Her paws were clean too!
Casey and I walked into the house then into the kitchen. I grabbed some paper towels and sprayed Natures Miracle on the towel, then proceeded to wipe her down. I just wanted to kill that poop smell. Casey still reeked. Phew!!! I got closer for inspection and discovered right by her collar was poop. Ewe! The poop was squished between Casey's fur and her chain collar. Yes, this was discusting and I was really angry at this point.
My husband happen to be home working and helped me shampoo the dog out in the driveway. He was not a happy camper! This was not something we had in mind. Yes, we have signs in our yard that tell people to pick up their poop.
I have to say I am tired of people leaving their poop in our yard. I am need of a solution that is resident friendly. No one in our neighborhood has a front, yard fence. I thought of bushes, but that just adds more yard work to my schedule. Why do I have to change the way I live for the selfish, inconsiderate people? I am open to suggestions.
