The abandoned cats

The constant meowing awoke me at night. I went to the comfort room and urinated in a jiffy, then check the dirty kitchen at the back of the house. There, I found a pair of stray little kittens, hungry and cold. I was struck nine times for liking the two, feeding the two and caressed their soft furs as they savored mix of rice and pork meat.

That’s the start of my five-month relationship with this feline couple, Minnie Ming (female feline with gray and black stripe) and Battery (the male feline with black and white fur). My sister’s daughter also adored them and lavish them with food, excluding chocolates. You never feed cats with chocolate because it will make them hyperactive or sometimes choke of its sticky composition.

Living in the countryside or barrio don’t need much fancy treatments on cats. But I see to it that they are well taken care of by getting used to regular bath and feeding it three times a day. Cats like to be cuddled or petted at all times. I often talk to them just like a person talking to another person; play with them in the field. With their presence, rats, their primary foes, never destroy our clothing, put a hole on the wall and other nuisances. It’s also their additional food; much to my relief.

Adopting stray animals don’t require papers, but they should be quarantine to eradicate parasites (fleas, worms). With the help of my niece, we alternately feed, bath, extricate overgrown teeth, brush them (just like normal people), cut their nails and sometimes cloth them.

Here in the Philippines, more and more cat owners are treating their feline friends as their family members, too. When you pet them, it can really calm yourself and ease your stress.

Thing to remember when feeding cats

  • Don't feed them chicken bones. It will get stuck on their teeth or in their throat.
  • Chocolate is a no-no-no. It can cause hyperactiveness or can lead to early death.
  • Avoid feeding them tiny fish bones; better yet, puree it when to feed them.

Info on Cats in the USA

This is not the Broadway Act called Cats but for real, more than a dozen stray cats like kings and queens in their very own Beverly Hills mansion - with around-the-clock maid and butler service! What lucky cats they are!

The lucky felines feast on the fanciest food money can buy and are waited on hand and foot 24 hours a day.

Their lucky fates resulted to the courage and dedication of two socialites Ellen Lavinthal and Deborah Corday - who pursued their advocacy on taking care of once-down-trodden felines to have nothing but the best in life.

The two socialites live in a separate mansion, not far away from the cats’ mansion, spent more than $1 million (US dollars) to help the stray cats and organized the Animal Alliance, registered as a tax-exempt foundation which offers shelter to the unwanted cats.

The women didn’t like their cats to be caged, so they bought them their own posh home in the Hollywood Hills. Wow! These cats are really lucky.

Ms. Lavinthal, also the president and founder of Animal Alliance said that they don’t turn any cat away, even the ones who are too sick to be adopted. They are really committed to providing their food, shelter and medical expenses for the rest of their lives. The kindhearted socialites care for the kitties mostly of their own pockets.

Tax deductible contributions to the Animal Alliance can be sent in checks to: Animal Alliance, 14958 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, Calif. 91403.

Cats Musical - Memory c/o UrChatNoir

Cats-Animals with Nine Lives

Since it was domesticated in the ancients, cats have  a formidable effects to its owners. There are stories of heroism in the house, aside from chasing rats that often created havocs at home.

Noted pet owners of the olden times were the Egyptians. These people, especially the royal blood families have an undying respects to cats. They believe that these animals will guard them in the afterlife. Just imagine the Sphinx, resembling like a lion with a pair of wings, in a smaller version.

Tigers and lions are the bigger version of these little cute felines. With the presence of cats at home, pests, like rats evade them . But nonetheless, it's a great help to homeowners because they will lessen the problem in eradicating rats in the household that often destroy crops (like rice and corn).

Cats are like to be pampered, big or small. These domesticated ones will lessen your stress and calm your senses once you pet them. A good suggestion is that you talk to them like a normal person. They'll answer you 'meow' as if they understand you.

Talking about their nine father used to hate our cats before, because they usually release their feces in our dirty kitchen. One time, he used the shotgun to kill one male cat, but, it didn't die because the iron pellet just penetrated between its fur and skin. The male cat, behaved and often evaded my father's presence. I think, they know those persons who will love or hate them.

@Lucky Cats: My cats are so adorable. They make me relax, the meowing and purring.

Yes, they're growing rapidly. Some of my cousins want to adopt upcoming kittens (They're really expecting it!).

Unfortunately, one of my cats, died (Mica, the daughter of Minnie) due to miscarriage. It's sad.

Meanwhile, Minnie Ming sired another three (one male (Fox) and two daughters (Ashley and Orangey).

Thank you for your appreciation, Kathy. I know you are also a very compassionate cat owner. I'll be visiting your hubs, soon.

Hi Travel_man have such beautiful cats. The pictures are so sweet and it is obvious that you love them. Thank you for taking the time to open hour heart and home to these two beauties. And, now...3 kittens! Aren't they entertaining!? Now, be aware that your little kitty family will continue to grow if the mama and her brother, and, soon, the kittens, aren't spayed and neutered. Five kitties is a very nice number to have around. Bless you for writing this very informative hub; specially about chocolate and chicken bones and small fish bones being bad for kitty. Your compassion is endearing and the care you have for these beautiful creatures is very wonderful and appreciated. Thank you for sharing the Cats musical "Memory," and the beautiful pictures of your kitties and Minnie-Ming's kittens. Kathy

@BkCreative: Got your attention again, LOL! Funny thing, Minnie Ming sired the first three kittens (all grown up, but the third died when my deaf-mute sister accidentally stepped on it!Pity! Sighs.)And now another three rambunctious kittens kept tickling, biting, my feet while doing my hubs!

Oooh love the video too. How lovely that the two would show up as a couple. I've always been a big cat fan and recently adopted an adult who is so wild and playful. She has taught me that I am the big primate in the house - a great reminder when we start thinking we are more valuable. I mean, after all I can't catch a mouse.

Lovely hub - thanks so much. Rated up!

I'm sure, your mom is just cautious about the rabbies these poor felines can inflict to you, bacville. Stray cats in the city are less fortunates than in the countryside. Most of the city folks are disgusted and avoid feeding them. I hope the government or private entities will provide shelters and foods to these lowly animals.

Thanks so much for this great hub on cats! Strays can get into the garbage, but you have shown us how loving and helpful they can be.

My mother prohibits us to feed stray cats here in Manila because they often ransack our garbage bags for food trashes.
