Two Happy Rescue Greyhounds

Updated on June 17, 2012

Rescue Greyhounds

When Greyhounds' racing days are over they become available to be rescued from destruction and begin a second career at pets. They have good dispositions which make them wonderful pets. I took the pictures for this Hub at the Birmingham, Michigan, Farmer's Market this morning. Many small children stopped by to pet these gentle dogs.

I never considered a Greyhound breed until reading this! I never really considered what was done to the dogs after they were retired. Do you think it's right for them to be raced to begin with? I heard recently some group was trying to stop it from happening all together. They said it was along the same lines as cock fighting, bull fighting and dog fighting. What is your opinion? I think those dogs look beautiful, and happy.

They have a very fine owner, a gentleman in his 80s I would guess.
