Exercise Is Important To Your Dogs Health

Exercise is essential to the long term health of your dog. Not to mention, what you feed your dog. Walking your dog whenever possible is a great way to exercise your pet and to get exercise yourself. Be extremely patient especially with an older dog when trying to train it. Remember, although you always hear that you can not teach an old dog new tricks? It is not true at all repetition will teach a dog how to do different commands.

Throwing the frisbee or a ball in the backyard, playing fetch in the house. Maybe, occasionally, allow your dog to swim in a swimming pool or a river. I have a Rottweiler and for big dogs it is good to give them an old tire hanging low from a tree or a thick long rope to play with. The older dogs may not play with it but, the younger puppies will. It is a cute sight to see.

Never leave a dog in a kennel or pen for long periods as this lazy action will hurt your pet in the long run. Larger dogs such as Rottweilers are prone to having arthritis as they age. It can, in the end, be a very debilitating and painful disease for your pet. If you have to keep your dog on a leash in the yard, make sure the leash is very long so that your dog has plenty of room to run and play. Opposed to, a short leash, which would confine your dog to little movement if any. Let your dog enjoy life and they will be far happier.

Dogs aim to please and if they are treated right and with kindness they will be the most loyal animals to you. The rottweiler that I have, does not like to be alone. If you leave the room, she is right there with you. She does not care who is around when there is food involved. She will leave you in heart beat to see who has food. Our dog loves to ride. You can just mention the fact that she might get to go and she starts jumping on all fours.

It sounds obvious but, make sure and keep your canine away from any and all chocolate, grapes and onions because, they can be fatal to should any dogs eat the food in any way. This will ensure the dog have a healthy diet.

Always have patience when training a new puppy. A good tip is to train a puppy around a grown dog who already knows commands because, the pup will learn much faster. This is the cutest thing I have ever seen. The puppy obviously wants to please. So, he or she watches the bigger dog to see what is acceptable and not acceptable.

Make Your Dog Strong and Healthy

Put a small weight on the collar of your dog, much the way athletes do to strengthen their neck. Also you can train your dog to race you, which is fun. Making sure your canine gets plenty of water is very important to your dogs health and even more so since you will be exercising the dog and burning calories off the pet. Always have several toys for the dog to play with. Play fetch with these items too. Playing in wooded areas with trails is right up a dog's alley. Depending on the type of dog that you have will really determine how long he or she would be able to play before they would need a break. Remember to give your pet breaks and rest every hour or so.

Regular visits to the vets office to make sure that your dog has all of its vaccines and is being treated for the prevention heart worms. You and your vet can work together to make sure that your pet has the best life possible. Let's face it...our pets become members of the family so we need to treat them that way and taking care of their exercise and their diet will help them to live a longer and fuller life.

Make time to take your dog to the park, river, woods, for a car ride or you can just take your dog outside and frolic with it. Finding a good paved walking trail with gently rolling hills and surrounded by trees and wildlife. This is a great description of a great place to take your best friend for some heart healthy exercise. Canines love running and if given a large area they will run and frolic.

I love sitting in the back yard and watching my dog entertain herself. It gets you out of the house and outside with the kids.

My dogs love exercising. A nice walk around the neighborhood or a frolic at the dog park makes that very happy.

Fitness for dogs isn't just good for their physical health, but it is also crucial for your dog's mental health as well. I've done a lot of research on this topic (http://www.pantandwag.com) and the link between 'good' behavior and getting enough of and the right type of dog exercise is astounding.

Swimming is definitely the best. Now if I could just get rid of that wet dog smell from my house.
