What Are Good Hamster Names?

Sometimes, the hardest part of having a new pet is knowing what to name the little devil. It's rather common to name pets after their traits or expected behaviors and such names exist for Hamsters too.

The most generic hamster name is Hammy. It's just adding the sound "ee" after the first syllable of a pet. (similar to gerby for a gerbil, ferry/fairy for a ferret, ratty for a rat, chinny for a chinchilla).

Waiting

One possibility is to wait a few weeks to find out your answer's likes and dislikes. For example, you can name your hamster after his or her favorite fruit treats.

However, if you can't wait long enough to name your new companion, there are already names that are often popular.

For some reason, when I was growing up all of our hamsters were named after Star Trek characters. We had Spock, Kirk, and Picard. Hamsters sure are silly little things :)

Cute hub, adorable picture, voted up! These are all great names but I liked Furball or Mini Me best. Our Teddy Bear hamster was named Gizmo after the furry little star of the movie Gremlins.
