The Kittens Have Names!

Thank you to everyone who suggested the fun and fabulous names for our 5 kittens over the last month or so. We now have enough "ammunition" for whatever comes our way...another barage of unexpected rescue cats / kittens! What a great list we have had to choose from.

Now, many of the names you offered have been used in the past or are the names of current kitties so; since we try very hard not to duplicate these; some of our favorites didn't make the "cut" since they made an earlier 'cut.' "Great Minds think alike!"

So, this will be the last installment of the saga of Smoky Mama's fateful journey to my home and her very pregnant state...and the birth of her beautiful babies. Now a few days over 10 weeks, these little maniacs have the run of the house...and we're loving every minute of it.

So, without further ado...please, let me introduce you to Smoky's sweet babies:

How beautiful. All babies are beautiful. CUTE. They say cuteness is Nature's way of protecting all babies. Who, but only Evil, will neglect a cutie?

You also look like a cutie, Lucky Cats, and I hope you are receiving the same kind of love you pour unto your kitties.

Wow Kathy! Everyone of those wee babies are soooo beautiful and the names fit them very well. I can't get over how different they are in colour and pattern - each a very unique beauty! Isn't nature awesome!!!

hi Peggy and MsLizzy...glad to hear whatever you two have to say about animals because I know your hearts are good and full of love for these babies...makes my world so much happier and more peaceful when I realize that there are people in this world like the two of you. Bless you a hundred times over and thank you so much.

Hi, there... you are quite right...it was too hard to let go of the babies we fostered. They were not 'rejects' from a prior foster--I was the original foster..and we lost our hearts to them... There were 3; we kept 2, my daughter took the other. The 'reject' part came in my 'rejecting' turning them over for public adoption. ;-)

Now, if I foster any more, I won't have that luxury of getting attached--we're full-up with the count now at 6 kitties. ;-)

      Hi Kathy,

It is great that they will all grow up in a loving home and never have to be separated from one another. When my mother brought home a pregnant cat who delivered 5 kittens we made everyone promise that they would be spayed and neutered. One friend adopted one and did so. Our vet at the time adopted 2 of them and obviously did so. The other two were taken by a vet who vowed to find good homes...so we felt pretty good about that. But I know what you mean about finding good and caring homes. It is not always that easy. If ONLY more people would spay and neuter their animals, so many would not end up being killed needlessly. Enjoy your babies! :))

Hi Peggy...well, we are keeping all of them since we are able and we have them because not many people around here care. So, they're safe and secure with us and their momma and the rest of the crazy cats. it's so very difficult to get people to understand the responsibility of having companion animals / pets. So, I would have a very hard time allowing one of these babies to be placed in uncertain circumstances. It's just a different "mind set" in this part of the country where animals are seen as tools or mousers or guard dogs or whatever...mostly, though; not as deserving of good and safe lives. thank you for commenting and, as I know, caring as you do. Kathy

      Hi Kathy,

They are all so cute and now have cute names to match. Are you keeping all of them or are you going to find good homes for some of them? If the latter, good luck with that. Am sure you would insist on spaying and neutering. Thanks for helping to take good care of these gentle creatures. Am sure you are loving all of their cute antics!

Writer..thank you so much for such a nice thought. Makes my day!

MS Lizzy...HURRAH!!! for you...that's what I want to hear! I'm so glad that you adopted the foster rejects...I have always thought it would be so hard to let go of little ones I've fostered....you're wonderful for having the strength and heart...and love!

      Bless you, my dear.

Flora, hello! Little Pepper (short for Pepperdine - a great suggestion) is a crazy, feisty male.

Diogenes, wow! 17 at one time...GOOD for you. For anyone who can and does care for kitties in such large numbers; I say "Hurrah!" and THANK YOU! And, yes, I understand the ups and downs, joy and heart ache of having so many kitties... Bless you!!

Hi my dear Augustine..yes, they no longer look like "little cougars," do they? And, now they're in what I refer to as "their string bean" stage...long and lean and all ears. Very very cute.

Hi Gail..I love these names and a very sincere THANK YOU to all who offered suggestions. As I said, we've archived the rest for future use (and, as fate seems to have it, I will need the names at a later date!!)

aenillervb: It's so nice to know that you are so happy to see this hub and were waiting for it...what a nice compliment. thank you so much.

My dear Alastar..."Momma Kat." You're the first to come up with that and I love it! I guess it's true, huh? Well, hopefully, I'll find time to write on other subjects now...thank you so much for visiting and leaving "momma Kat." I will keep the name..another great 'suggestion.'

Colin, you are and always have been a sweetheart and one who understands my insanity when it comes to furry beings. What a lovely comment you've given me and I'll be off to my FB page...find you...and see the hub you mention. As always (and a day) thank you my dear friend for your continual love and support. I sure do hope to find time to visit more often...your wonderful words.

Angie...as soon as I go home, I'll "scrump" all the kitties just for you! What a sweet comment and I shall take it to heart and keep it there.

TK..you said it so well...'caring for those who can't defend themselves...' Yes, such a big part of loving these babies. Thank you my friend.

Hi Ruby...what a dear you are...loved your suggestions, too...recognize anyone? So glad you visited...always am so pleased to see you name in my comment column.

Movie Master, I so appreciate your constant support through your visits and comments....means the world to me...and I have always loved your picture. kathy

There's nothing like having your own tribe of cats. I had 17 at one time in Baja and loved every minute of it despite all the tragedy as well as the fun and joy. I missed you earlier hubs on this or I would have suggested some names....R

Wonderful--beautiful babies! I so love kitties! We now have a full house at 6--having just adopted 2 new little ones....so there are 4 adults and 2 kittens.

The kittens? They are a "failed fostering." ;-)

How could we not adopt them after caring for them for a month????
