Aldoin

Updated on August 13, 2014

Dogs have a way to touch our lives with their devotion and affection. Anyone who has loved and lost a beloved pet may relate this poem I wrote years ago when my dog was still with me. He is still missed and I keep a tiny framed photograph, along with a plaster sculpture of him at my home, so that I will never forget him.

Aldoin - A poetic tribute to him

My little cocker spaniel,

Beloved friend so true.

You're lovable and faithful

despite what we've been through.

You always try to please me.

I 'm never quite alone.

My floppy-eared companion

is happy with his bone.

You don't know how I need you,

so never go away.

For here you're loved and cared for,

And here it's safe to stay.

Remembering a precious pet and friend.

He wasn't very happy here because we took him to the beach. I guess he didn't like sea water or sand.

Books I Recommend

As a writer, I'm constantly looking for inspiration that will help me with my stories. I have read a few dog books and I find that stories about our four-legged friends can give us valuable insight to our non-talking pets while they entertain us. Whether you are a reader or a writer, or If you simply wish to become the best pet owner you can be with your current "Fido" then take a look at the list here. Dogs are amazing creatures and we're blessed to have them in our world.

This is the one at the top of my list. Aldoin was highly devoted to me and he proved throughout his life. When life was hard, he was there and never abandoned me. He should have been included in this book.

As a Christian, I believe in miracles and I am glad someone wrote a book about the way dogs can impact our lives with their unconditional love. I truly believe they are gifts from God and can work miracles in our lives if we let them.
