Do you think when you talk to your pet, they understand what you are saying?
Well if they do they like to play stupid sometimes
But they must to an extent as you can teach a dog to do many things
Dog understand to an extent, you can talk to them but at the same time use body language that is how they know what you mean, of course, you cant have a big convo with your pet and expect him or her to know what u mean...
I believe they do! I have two dogs and three cats that I talk to constantly. They definately seem to know key words so i do believe they understand what im saying. For example i can stand anywhere in my house and say out loud "who wants a treat?" and they come running from all directions. another example when they are doing something wrong if i look at them and say"no" they stop...so I would say they understand what im saying to a extent.
You have to understand also animals sense when we are upset, not feeling well,scared. I believe they understand more than we give them credit for.I believe that pets understand as much as you train them to understand. I know for a fact that my roommate's dog has a larger grasp on English than any of my previous dogs simply because my roommate uses that vocabulary often and she has also spent way too much time with that awesome dog. But that aside, I know there are some common things that animals understand, such as "no", "I want to help you", and "come here/can I pet you?" Many times, it is not what we say that pets understand but how we say it. Animals are 40x better at associating the non-verbal language that we unconsiously portray when we speak than we are, so when you angrily say "No!" Not only are you using an angry tone, I know I tend to adopt a more aggressive posture. Also in my experience, animals know which people to go to to get help, usually physically. Me & my mom have helped numerous cats, dogs & a few birds to a better life. I've helped (way too many) bats out of our houses so they dont die. But my point is, pets learn to understand the language that we say/use commonly. They can also understand emotions, they may just not be able to relate as we do. Hence why we love animals: Love is unconditional.
