Cats or dogs - does that say what kind of person you are?
cat persons being more independants than dog persons...?
I think I am a bit of both, although I (myself) only have a dog and will only ever have a dog. However, I had the luck to watch a family member's 2 cats for a few months and have become quite fond of them, and definitely more understanding of them. I am a dog person in that I am bubbly, outgoing, curious and openly friendly. I am a hint of cat though because I like to be alone a lot and have been told I have a sense of mystery mixed with "bitchiness". I think cats are very regal in their mannerisms, which could easily be insinuated as "snotty" to a lot of non-cat folks...as I once was. But the 2 cats really opened my eyes to a cat's personality and that they can be great pets if given the chance...and they are definitely low maintenance when compared to the dog (regarding having to go potty).
I suppose what type of personality you have could determine what type of animal you get, but what type of animal you have doesn't determine your personality. No matter what type of pet you get you still have to take care of them either way and give attention to them. Just because someone has a cat doesn't mean they don't like dogs, and vice versa. And some people don't have any animals at all but they're still the nicest people. Others might have birds or a hamster or fish instead. I think it all just comes down to what you or your family want, what fits into your schedule best, and what you want from your pet. Do you want a small pet that you don't have to look after much because you're working a lot or you just wanted to try out something small first to teach your child responsibility? Then you might choose a hamster or goldfish. If you want a pet that you can pet and cuddle up with but that is more independent, then you would get a cat. If you want a pet you can take outside for walks and to play then get a dog. It all depends. But someone having a pet or not having a pet, or what type of pet they have, doesn't make that person any better or worse than anyone else.
I don't think so. It's too simple a categorization, and there are too many other reasons why someone might prefer cats or dogs--the memory of a beloved childhood pet, practical reasons (dogs for security, cats for convenience), suitability to ones' lifestyle, and many more.

Which do you prefer as a pet? A dog or a cat? And are you a man or a woman?I am not sure if it be myth or truth that men prefer dogs and women prefer cats. Personally, I fall into the stereotypical dog-loving man. But maybe I am just that. A stereotype. Maybe,...
