I think it's great if you and the other human members of your family are vegan. However, dogs are carnivores and I personally feel that it would be unfair and unhealthy to try to make a dog be vegan or even vegetarian.
Look into what food you'd want to feed the dog and make sure it's something you can deal with. There are some high quality foods that use only free range meats. Also you could consider a raw or home cooked diet, using only free range organic meats if that's something you're concerned about.
I know they make vegetarian dog foods but I'd never use them for my dog or recommend them. If you are against feeding an animal meat, then I'd recommend you consider other pet options instead of getting a carnivore. If you are willing to feed meat, then I'd say look into some of the more humane options for meat based dog foods and decide before you get the dog whether or not it's diet is something that you feel comfortable with.
