Animals communicate with each other but do they also lie while doing so?

    Some animals like apes, scrub jays and dolphins have been shown to be able to anticipate the future, however I think in order to lie an animal would have to posses a complex natural language.

    They are probably making "calming signals". If they're in a situation where they have been punished before, they will make "calming signals" to "calm" you so you don't punish them. I wrote a hub about "calming signals".
