Misty, The afterbirth has to come out! I am not a vet, but have had alot of experience with animals giving birth. First, check to see if you can find an emergency after hours animal clinic. They will usually have someone who can answer your questions. If you cannot find a clinic, when our cat was giving birth several years ago, she was too tired to push the last kitten out. The sac around the kitty was less than halfway out. My daughter, who must have been 9 at the time, reached in and pulled the rest of the baby out, cleaned her off and then as the afterbirth started coming out, the mama still couldn't push, so my daughter pulled it the rest of the way out. I am not advising this, again I am not a vet, but that was our experience and both mom and babies were fine.
