If your dog is a high energy breed like a Collie, German Shepherd and so on. Make sure they are not only getting enough exercise, but that you are stimulating them mentally as well, bored dogs can be very destructive and attention seeking - playing 'hide-and-go-seek' in the house is a favourite. Sounds daft, but dogs love it. If they are just looking for attention/or trying to be dominant, after they have had their exercise and play time, then you have to ignore them and this behaviour. They will finally get the message and go and lie down. You will need to repeat this maybe for a few days. If they try to nudge you or sit beside you be gentle but firm and say 'No' and block them with an arm or leg wi but don't give them eye contact. Repeat your actions constantly, whenever you have to, until your dog learns that he/she will get attention when you are ready, not when they demand your time. Hope this helps.
