Cesar Millan the Greatest Dog Rehabilitator

Updated on December 10, 2016

My Opinion and Impression of Cesar Millan

picture from the NG

First I would like to make a comment:

Realize that Cesar Millan's dog psychology is plain common sense! Think about it, does a dog want to be a human, does a horse want to be a human? So let's treat our dogs like dogs and love them with our human heart and allow common sense to make the dogs life more bearable with a calm submissive manner. I am a big fan of Cesar Millan since he first came on N.G. channel.

When I researched for information about Cesar Millan, I came across many blogs and forums, after having read these and finding misinformation on Cesar Millan, I decided to voice my opinion and make a lens...My first opinion, is on the people that write negative things about Cesar, they are JEALOUS...he is there, and you are where?...that is a difference. Most statements made about Cesar Millan are uneducated guesses and limited knowledge about what the person is talking about. Just because you own a dog does not make you a trainer, even some trainers should not be called trainers.

Cesar has a GIFT, he is able to read animals, specifically dogs, his dog psychology method is not new, it is common sense, I have done this type of animal behavior analysis for years, especially with my horses...just because it wasn't popular or by a famous person over thirty years ago, doesn't mean it wasn't good. The saying "you have to be at the right place at the right time" is what happened to Cesar. He has the personality, the knowledge and ability to make things work. That's not saying that it works every time, there were some unsuccessful times...but that's life!

I find it interesting that someone is always discovering something about a famous person and then making a negative issue about it. That without the true facts...unless you were there I would not believe a thing...the News Media included....I personally have never had an article written about me that was fully truthful, that's because they either misinterpret or just wrote what they felt.

I can not express enough on how I feel about Cesar's ability and gift of knowing how a dog thinks, we as human-beings tend to try to humanize a dog, they don't want to be humans, they want to be dogs...if we just kept this in mind, there would be less problems with our dogs from the start. It does not mean we don't love them because we can't spoil them... if you love them you show that you are the leader and allow them to be a dog with your leadership.

My impression of Cesar Millan the Dog Whisperer...He has a big heart and no one can take away that fact...he loves his children(family) and he loves his dogs and helping them. The facts stand for themselves, he has helped many people have a wonderful relationship with their dogs, including dogs lives that have been can you claim that?

What Cesar says and does...

Is common sense and simple.

If you're tense and nervous, your dog will be tense and nervous; if you project weak energy, your dog will know there's a leadership vacuum. Your dog needs exercise, discipline, and affection - in that order. Exercise means a long walk every day, not just hanging out in the back yard.

Your dog needs rules, boundaries, and limitations, the same way children do. Your dog needs to socialize with other dogs. Your dog needs you need to understand what it means to be a dog."

Learn from Cesar's Way

The lessons are so common sense and relatable to the circumstances. Great DVD's to help with what ever dog behavioral problem you are encountering... I have talked to so many people that have used Cesar's method and have had remarkable success.

Daddy has gone to Doggy Heaven - In Loving Memory

Image from Cesar's email Newsletter

All of us who are fans of Cesar and his dog Daddy, feel a sadness and mourn the passing of his most loyal, well-balanced, and trusting Pit Bull. Daddy was 16 years old and had some health issues, being treated for cancer he bravely went through chemotherapy. With his loving family the Millan's at his side, he passed peacefully into Doggy Heaven on Friday the 19th of February.

I personally will miss him...I felt he was one of the most amazing dogs, his calmness beyond comprehension, this for a Pit Bull that is always being spoken of as being mean and unchangeable.

Angel Daddy you can romp free of pain, chase whatever you like, sleep as long as you want and play with all your doggy friends that went there before you.

DEAR a Foundation Honoring Daddy - Helping other dogs in need...

Image above from Cesar's email Newsletter

The Millan's have set up a Fund Honoring Daddy, it's called DEAR and stands for Daddy's Emergency Animal Rescue...

This fund will assist dogs who are victims of abuse or violence, man-made disasters, and large-scale natural disasters.

In Honor and Memory of Daddy who contributed so much in the improvement of the lives of so many dogs.

Your donation to DEAR can be of great Help.

Puppy Junior - an introduction

Although this is not Daddy's own puppy, he bonded with him as if he were. This puppy named Junior, learned the ways of Daddy and has been found to have the same calm and instinctive manner. Junior is in place of Daddy with Cesar's confidence he is a great replacement.

In the NEWS...The Millan Family - Ilusion filed for divorce

I was saddened to hear Cesar and his wife Ilusion have decided to part ways after being married for 16 years. Initiated by Ilusion, who at the Los Angeles court, has filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences."

Legal documents show that Ilusion has sought the primary physical custody of the kids, Andre and Calvin, and Cesar will have visiting rights.

I don't judge them, I don't know them, and none of us know the real story, but sadly they fall into a category of divorce which is rampant in this country...I pray for their families healing.

Created 04/27/2007

As you can tell, I think highly of Cesar's's common sense and humane.

Your thoughts can be left here....

Thank you for this lens! I am also a big fan of Cesar. And I agree, his methods does make sense. I do follow his advise with my two dogs and even do the "shush" sound he makes lol And my dogs are well behaved. Correct me if I am wrong but this man first started with a pack of rottweilers. He is a remarkable person.

We are big fans of Cesar Millan! Exercise, Discipline and Affection are the way to go for a happy, healthy pooch. I agree it's the people who need most of the training and not the dog. Just read his new book and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We got a new puppy about two months ago and she is proving to be a handful. We've been cat people for years (there are three cats in our home) and having a dog is a new experience. I'd heard about Cesar Millan before visiting your lens today, but really knew nothing about him. I've never seen his shows or read any of his books. When I read here today that dogs need exercise, discipline and affection, that made sense to me. I want to learn more about Cesar's method. I've bookmarked your lens and will be back to visit again. Thanks for sharing this info!

Like you, I recognize that Cesar Milan has an extraordinary gift, a wonderful understanding of psychology, and a lot of common sense (would that it were more common!). It pains me terribly to see dog owners who have no idea how to interact with and communicate with their pets and who yell at them or punish them instead of giving them positive reinforcement to elicit the desired behaviors. I am grateful that Cesar has been so generous with his knowledge and is such a wonderful teacher. This is a terrific lens! Blessed by a Squid Angel. :)

My kid has been asking for a dog for so many years, and have tried to teach him that a dog is a life commitment. So when my kid was old enough to understand, we together watch this wonderful program for months and has help us to learn so many things so I think my kid really got the real meaning of getting one. =)

I love this program, and it is common sense...but most of the time the common sense is the least common of all ;)

I've always enjoyed and learned a lot from Caesar and his methods. But then, I have a 6-pack of dogs from 130 lbs to 3.5. :) I think he and his techniques are misunderstood and, worse, often falsely stated. He's very clear about what he is doing--more so now than ever before--and if you watch the show you get it. Too often I think many are not watching, they're assuming.

Cesar is a fascinating person. He's successful at what he does partly because he's a keen observer of the animal he loves -- dogs, and he pays attention to what they're doing. We'd all be much more successful communicating with each other and our pets if we took the time to listen, pay attention, observe, and react accordingly. He's a wise man!

I couldn't agree more with the info here. I've never understood why people automatically believe everything the media tells them without checking it out for themselves, especially when it's about celebrities and if I live to be 100 or more I'll never understand why some are simply jealous of people who are successful. They didn't get that way overnight, they worked hard to attain their success and people like Cesar Milan help a lot of people.

And yes, while I absolutely adore dogs, they are dogs and not human. They don't want to be human and people don't get when they look as us as their owners they don't have a frame of reference to see us as humans either. They see us as other dogs I think, the leaders of the pack so to speak.

      Good lens, as usual.

Cesar's methods truly are common sens. I have used these same methods for my entire life and always have great success. Dogs are of a pack mentality...simple as that. People who spoil their dogs end up with a disappointing relationship with an animal that can be the most loyal and loving being on the face of the planet.

I have always had the belief that dogs smell fear, and when they do, they let you know of their distrust.

I love dogs and endeavour not to show some may worry me.

So they do nor snarl or bark at me.

When ever I've seen Cesar on tv I've always been amazed. I would love for him to come to house for some help.
