Creative Thinking

How to come up with cool cat names:

  • Unique: The name should be unique. There is no cool and common name, it’s one or the other, so find a name that is like no others.

  • Spelling: Take a cool cat name and change the spelling to make it even more cool!

  • Personality: Okay, we’ve already established that the cat is a cool one, what else about his/her personality can a name be inspired by?

  • Appearance: Give the cat a name that goes well with its appearance! If it looks cool, and sounds cool, it must be cool, right?

  • Catnip: Every cool cat likes catnip, so give it some catnip and see what names will be inspired then!

  • Water test: Give your cat a bath and see how it reacts. Does this have anything to do with naming a cool cat? I don’t know, try it and see.

So while you are trying to come up with your own cool cat names, try to play with your kitty and observe it for a while to see if any names pop into your head. If you really just want some ideas, here is a list of cat names that are purrrrfect for every cool cat around!

Think on it

When you think you found “the” name, write it down and continue thinking about it for a few days to make sure it truly is the one you want for your cool little ball of fur.

Cuddle up at night and dream on it, maybe you will get lucky and have the cat tell you the right name in the dream!

Great suggestions! I love the name Pickles. Never have thought of that one! I have a cat that I renamed when she was almost 3 years old. I called her Pixie for the first 3 years of her life. Pixie made one of your lists. Then, she did something that made me change her name. When she got out of the cat box, she kicked her back legs against the wall, fast like a rabbit. I had to rename her Bunny.

I have another can named Velcro, so named because he latched onto the technician while on a visit to the vet and he wouldn't let him go!
