Dachshund Toys And Supplies That Dachshunds Love

Dachshund recommended dog toys, steps, crates, beds, and leashes for Dachshunds and small dog breeds. The newest and hottest Dachshund friendly toys and supplies that Dachshunds love.

Hi all it's Dachshund Luke,

I thought about what words of Dachshund wisdom you may want to read and then a little light bulb flicked in my head. Only a Dachshund could give the best reviews on what toys and supplies to buy for your Dachshund. Dachshund's love toys!

Hope you enjoy reading about my things as much as I enjoy playing with them.

My tail is wagging again because I have this whole lens to myself!

Multipet Nobbly Wobbly Ball Large Dog Toy

I love chasing this ball because I never know which direction it is going to roll in.

Have had mine for over a year now and it is still intact despite me chewing on it nearly every day - that impressed my humans!

Best Dog Toys For Dachshunds

Dachshunds love toys

I must admit that there are many of my dog toys and wonderful things scattered around our house. I do try to keep them all in one place but the balls like to roll and sometimes they go missing. Daily I check on all my toys and it is fun if I cannot find one because then I have to hunt for it. I love hunting for toys.

Even better than hunting is being given new toys!

Important Dachshund Luke's news flash.

Ok, I may look small and weak but you may not be aware that I have a very strong jaw.

So strong that my humans stopped buying me little dog toys because I rip them up too quickly. They said it could be dangerous because I swallow little pieces of the toy, woof do not like the sound of that!

Here are a few of my can't live without Dachshund toys.

Chuckit! Ultra Ball
Chuckit! Ultra Ball

I love these - I am a tennis ball addict and these are the best of the best. They are so much fun and bounce really high.

My humans love to use the Chuckit ball launcher and then wait for me to bring the ball back to them.

Love it when we all play together.

Dachshunds love to sleep

Have a look at my snuggle bed!

Treat your Dachshund to this snuggle bed

Best Dachshund Snuggle And Burrow Bed

Every Dachshund needs one

Before my humans got me this bed, I had a cat bed. Please don't laugh!

Dachshunds like to burrow under things and cat beds have little openings so we can snuggle but they are not as nice as my new bed.

I did have one dog bed when I was little but I felt strange sitting on top of it, I dug and dug but I always ended up perched on the cushion. I wore myself out trying to burrow in that bed.

Then one day this bed arrived. I love it.

What Dachshund would not enjoy snuggling up in this lovely bed?

When I have had a long day playing with my toys and there is not a lap to snuggle on then the next best thing is my bed.

I love to dig and burrow under the attached blanket. I feel secure warm and cozy all at the same time. I have even seen Kitty Kat snuggling in there when he thinks I am not looking.

My human likes the fact that if I roll in the dirt and then jump in the bed she can unzip the cover and wash it.

What more can a Dachshund want?

I give this bed a big paws up.

Perfect Beds For Dachshunds And Small Dogs.

I would be happy to snuggle in any of these beds.

My Dachshund friend Dotty has this bed. When we visit I sneak in and wiggle around until I am really burrowed in all the softness.

Snuggle bags for Dachshunds and other small dogs

Talking of snuggling.....

I love to snuggle, and I know that Dachshunds and other little dogs (that do not have a lot of fur) get cold in the winter.

So imagine my excitement when I found this wonderful Snuggle Bag at one of my favorite unique and home made Dachshund websites 'Whats up Dox Dachshund Shoppe'. You all know that I love to burrow, and what better place to burrow than in this lovely soft Sherpa fleece lined bag.

An important news flash from Dachshund Luke

I am letting you into a secret so you can get one too.

I have already started to nag my humans to get me one.

Here is why I think they will:

1) The inside is made of soft Sherpa fleece so that will keep the drafts away and be nice and snuggly.

2) The man who makes them was a professional upholsterer of over 30 years - that should impress my humans!

3) It can go in the washing machine - My human will not buy me anything she cannot wash. I am not dirty; I just like rolling in dirty things.

4) Because she loves me and knows, I get cold sometimes. - I think it is my big sad brown eyes

So little dogs and Dachshunds make sure your humans know the above facts and then you too can have your own snuggle bag.

This is breaking news - snuggle bags selling fast so quick go to their web site and choose yours.

Ohhh, I like the look of the long bed. I want one!

Dachshund Luke needed a crate for his travels

It is a big crate!

Dachshund Luke Travel Crate
Dachshund Luke Travel Crate

Dachshund Airline cage

Dachshund Luke needed an airline approved cage for his trip from Florida to Spain.

I have a big cage, there is room for me and Kitty Kat!

If like me you are a travelling Dachshund then you are going to need a cage or crate. Because my last trip was all the way from Florida to Spain, I had to get a cage that could go in plane.

Let's face it at night I prefer to sleep in my human's bed so I really did not want a cage. I love to burrow under the blankets, keep warm and I do not take up much room but the cage is great for travelling and flying on a plane.

My humans were concerned that I had not been cage trained so they got me this big cage a few months before our trip so that I could get used to it. It did not take me long because when we are not travelling all my toys are stored in there.

I was such a big brave boy when we recently flew from America to Spain with Continental Airlines; of course, my humans were on the same flight.

Here is some serious stuff.

Important Dachshund Luke's news flash: Not any cage/crate will do.

I may be short but I am long so my cage is bigger that perhaps you would think it should be. Make sure your human reads this how to measure correctly.

Check with the airline for all special cage requirements - some have additional requirements.

Find an airline approved cage and make sure they meet airline requirements.

Mine is a Petmate sky kennel with the additional raised floor and dry mats. This came complete with two food bowls and met all the requirements for Continental Airlines.

So that my cage would be remembered by all airline staff we jazzed it up a bit. The last thing I wanted was for the airline to not remember me. They may have laughed at my personalised cage, but they knew where it was at all times and most importantly that I was on the plane. I did not want to be a Home Alone doggie.

I was nice and happy in my cage during the trip.

This is my airline cage - it is very nice and cozy inside.

Crates and Cages For Dachshunds And Small Dogs - These are direct links to Amazon.com - so feel free to enjoy.

Ok, time to choose your crate or cage - every dog should have one!

Some dogs are good and stay in a cage when their humans are out.

I use mine when we are going in the car or travelling on a big plane.

Which shall I play with next?

Which shall I play with next?
Which shall I play with next?

Dachshund Steps

All Dachshunds need steps.

Dachshund Luke uses dog steps

My special dog steps

I may have a long body but my legs (do not laugh) are only 3 inches long! That's my legs and steps in this picture.

Yep, I only stand a few inches off the floor and to tell the truth, I do not really like the floor. I spend a lot of time on my human's bed and the soft chairs but they are so high up.

Instead, I have my own special stairs - I am the only one allowed to use them.

I love my stairs because I do not have to wait to be picked-up - I am a little stubborn so waiting is not my thing.

I have a set of stairs by my human's bed and a set that leads to the soft big cuddling chair in front of the fire. They are very portable so we even take them when I stay at friends houses.

I personally do not mind things getting dirty but my human is happy that she can take the cover off and wash it in the washing machine.

Dachshund Luke's news flash.

Do not damage your Dachshunds back.

Dachshunds have very long backs - we are nearly a dog and a half in length - and we should not be jumping. We can damage our backs even if we are still young.

Many Dachshunds sadly get hurt very badly (or worse) from jumping down from things.

Please do everything you can to stop you Dachshund from jumping.

Dachshund Luke Thinks All Dachshund's Need Steps

I have 3 sets of steps and slopes - my human loves me and knows it is import form my back to stay perfect.

Who is Dachshund Luke?

Wondering who he is and why he needed a crate?

Put your paw on Dachshund Luke and find out.

Dachshund Luke Walks On A Leash

Whenever my human reaches for a leash, I get very excited for I get to go for a nice walk in the wonderful smelling 'out of the house place.'

I have noticed a strange dog habit here in the Spanish village; many of the dogs wander around not only without a leash but also without a human!

I like walking with my human and feel secure on my leash and besides there is no way they would let me out on my own.

You see I love smells.

I am hound dog and they think I will just keep following my nose, get distracted, and end up lost.

I do not think it is because of lack of trust in my nose skills to find my way back.

So let me introduce you to more of my favorite leashes.

photo credit: © Karen Larson : Photo of Dachshund Luke

Dachshund's love to walk

So we need a good lead.

I you do not get to go on many walks you should make sure your human reads this: Why You Should Walk And Exercise A Dachshund

Lighted LED Dachshund Leash or Lead - Find Your Dachshund In The Dark

Sometimes people do not see me!

Ok, I know I am a little Dachshund but at night it is like I am invisible. So, my humans got me a lighted leash.

Now, that makes a lot of sense because people can at least see the leash in the dark and they must just know that I am on the end of it because l am getting a lot of attention lately.

Dachshunds make sure you point out to your humans that this leash is not only cool and gets us lots of attention.

# Visible from 1/2 mile

# Lights are on both sides and go down 3'5 " on the leash.

# Easy On/Off switch in bone battery case

# Batteries included (2AA)

I have the light me up collar too. My humans want to make sure that cars can see me too.

I Love My Dachshund Leash

Look at the wonderful 'I love my Dachshund' leash in this picture. This is the best leash for a human to tell the world how much they love us.

So Dachshunds if you want one of these then make sure you point out to your human that it is

Made of sturdy and durable nylon

Has a swivel snap so we don't get all tangled

Oh, and yep, you guessed it the ultimate in human approval - it can go in the washing machine.

I know you want one! They sell them at one of my favorite places - they have the snuggle bags too.

So pop over to 'Whats up Dox Dachshund Shoppe'

Dachshund Luke Has A Life Jacket

Yep, It is true - I live near water.

Yellow would be easy to see from a distance.

Dachshunds Can Drown - Make Sure They Are Protected

Yes, it is true Dachshunds Can Drown - And Do. - Not good news for Dachshunds!

Many Dachshunds drown because they jump in or fall in a body of water and are then unable to get out. Look at my short little leg - once in water it can be impossible for me to climb out again.

Ok, Dachshunds we have to face it, we are not designed for long distance swimming. I can take a few kicks in the pool but when I am exhausted from swimming, I cannot just put my feet on the floor and take a rest. My human has to get me out quick because I go under the water and that is scary.

So my humans got me a cool Dog Life Jacket to wear. It is great because not only do I look very hansom in it, I also can stay in the water longer. When I am fed-up of swimming I just float!

Emergency Weather Alert! Yet another reason to own a Dog Life Jacket.

Hurricanes, Floods, big drains, Fast Flowing Water - all these things are a danger to small Dachshunds like me. We live in a Hurricane area so my human likes the idea that in an emergency I can wear my Dog Life Jacket.

Why?

- It is easy for them to hold me because there is a handle on top.

- My human will have enough things to worry about.

- I will not fit down the big drains that we have here

- I will not drown - this is the best reason!

Reasons to own a Dachshund Life Jacket

Does your Dachshund like water?

Do you have a Swimming pool?

Do you live near a river, pool or lake?

Do you live in area that is prone to Floods?

Do you live in Florida - Hurricanes?

Do your humans take you on boat trips?

Or, maybe you are an untrained Dachshund and will not listen when your humans tell you to STOP! It is easy for us to fall in water.

I like my Dachshund Life Jacket and find it very comfortable and easy to get on and off. Perhaps you need one too.

So Do You Think I Am A Spoilt Dachshund?

I don't think I am spoilt,

my humans just love me that's all.

Thanks for taking the time to read my lens and remember Dachshunds give so much love that they deserve a new toy every now and then.

If you have time could you please look at my book.

Dachshunds Do You Pee In The House?

Time To Start Going Outside

The Best Gift You Can Give A Dachshund - Training!

Everyone keeps saying that Dachshunds are hard to housebreak however I happen to know that it not true!

I am a Dachshund and prefer to go outside to pee and poop but I have noticed that some of our foster Dachshunds preferred to carpet! I was so shocked but my human remained calm and showed them how much more fun it is to go outside.

My human gets really sad when we get foster Dachshunds that were put in shelters because their humans did not housebreak them. All Dachshunds are smart and learn quickly so they should not be in a shelter just because they did not know what to do.

So, my human decided to write all about how It Is Easy To Housebreak A Dachshund to help the humans get it right.

Come on Dachshund, if you are sneaking off and peeing in our humans house then make sure you show this ebook to your humans now.

Hello, Dachshund Luke would love to know who visited. - Anyone can sign including you :-)

What a great lens! These products really have a dachshund in mind! My Abbey loves to burrow and gets frustrated with beds that don't move when she digs and makes her little nest. Also I just bought a house with a big swimming pool and I know she hates swimming, but it would be nice if she could join me once in a while without having to worry about her drowning, I will definitely have to invest in those life jackets! I didn't know they made such a thing!

Your lens is great. We rescued 2 dachshunds and they are ruining my life. 24/7 barking, peeing all over the house, going outside for 10 minutes then coming back inside and peeing on the carpet, more barking, waking me up to eat at 3:30 am.

      I'll never rescue another dog.

I do love your lens though!

Our neighbors always had a pair of dachshunds and they are just lovable. Thanks for the toy ideas.

I loved this lens! I grew up with dachshunds and now have Chloe - who looks like the female version of your Luke. I LOL when I saw the hotdog costume!! It was just too funny. Great toys and gifts and I'm going to favorite this lens so that when I'm ready to buy a new bed or toy I'll go here first!

      @anonymous: Hello Debi,

What a wonderful person you are to take on your little Dachshunds. We spent many years fostering unwanted Dachshunds that all ended up in loving homes. You are right SARDS is something that Dachshunds can get and luckily as you have found out they also are able to continue a happy and healthy life. She is one lucky dachshund to have you in her life :-)

Our little Doxie wasn't wanted anymore by her original family, but we love her to death. She just went blind in January from SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome), this is common in Dachshunds. More common in Dapples (which ours is) and females (which ours is). She manages very well though, and we too take her wherever we go.

      thanks for visiting.

Thanks for all the great info. We have a rescued doxie that has been through so much recently and now just had back surgery for a disc. We found him on the street where someone had left him because he had heartworms. He has brought much joy to our lives and we are looking for more ways to make him happy after he gets back from the doctor. Thanks for all the great suggestions.

Hello Shirly, thanks for visiting. Dachshund Luke loves his burrow bed - I must admit he sleeps in our bed at night but always heads for his burrow bed when he wants to take a nap. He takes a lot of naps so it gets used often. It has held up really well considering he likes to drag it around the room until he find the best spot to snooze. I think your Dachshunds will enjoy it too. [in reply to Shirley1122]

Who could not love a Dachshund! I bet you are very cute. I am a mini too and that is why it is so important that I use steps to get onto chairs. It did not take me long to learn how to use them and so much easier than jumping down. Thanks for visiting - Dachshund Luke. [in reply to Rocky ]

Love your site - going to give my Mom & Dad some good suggestions on toys, a bed and some steps. I keep trying to tell them now important it is that I have steps so that my back doesn't get hurt. I am now on a diet because the vet said I need to keep my weight down. I am a registered miniature and the vet says I am one - but I look more like a Tweenie. My Mom & Dad just love me to pieces.
