Updated on October 5, 2014

Endangered Animals Coloring Sheets

Endangered animals coloring pages, pictures, videos, facts and information to learn about animals at risk. This is particularly good for kids.

Included is the giant panda bear, chimpanzee, Bengal tiger, grizzly bear, snow leopard and more. Watch some baby animal videos and vote for your favorite picture. Even get an update on the bald eagle. This is a fun resource to share with children and adults alike.

These creatures are a valuable resource. Educating people about them is a way to help them and keep them from going extinct.

Endangered Chimpanzee

With all of the chimpanzees you see at various zoos, many people would never think that they're endangered. However, they are.

They have been on the endangered species list since 1996. If you would like to learn more about, simply click the arrow below.

Endangered Bengal Tiger

Although they reside in additional countries, India is the main home to the Bengal tiger. There were once eight sub-species, but that has now declined to five.

These once abundant animals now number less than 2,500 for a variety of reasons including poachers and loss of habitat. According to CNN, more of these animals live in American zoos, than roam free in India.

While some animals are endangered, others are threatened. This means they are not endangered yet, but very well could be unless something is done.

It's one thing to read about endangered animals, it's another to see what they look like. For me, a photo makes it all seem more real, such as this picture of an Indian elephant.

Here are a few pictures of animals that are endangered. Be sure to pick your favorite so you can vote in the poll that follows.

Endangered Giant Panda

Probably the most known endangered species is that of the Giant Panda. It made the endangered list in 1984,

One of the main causes of endangerment is loss of habitat. Pandas mainly eat bamboo and their food supply keeps getting smaller due to the development their natural habitat.

Sadly, some die merely because they can't find enough food.In addition, they are not producing enough offspring to keep their species going. These adorable animals are from China.

Wyoming Toad

The Wyoming Toad is an extremely rare toad that once inhabited Albany County in the state of Wyoming in the United States. In 1984, it was placed on the endangered species list. Sadly, in 1991, it was declared extinct in the wild.

So, how can conservation help? With lots of hard work, these animals might have a fighting chance. Through breeding programs, these animals are being given a chance to return to a natural habitat to repopulate.

When one thinks of symbols that represent the United States of America, one can't help but think of the bald eagle. Once on the endangered species list, through conservation efforts, this species is no longer endangered or threatened.

I've included it in this writing as a reminder of what we can do to help save animals before they become extinct.
