Grooming Your Pets
Why is it Important to Groom Regularly?
Most long haired breeds of cats and dogs require regular grooming, and some breeds need a lot more than others. Grooming goes a long way in keeping your pet's coat clean, glossy and free of matts.
Grooming is also important so that you can keep a sharp eye on the condition of your pet's coat and skin. You will have a heads up at the very first sign of any infection, wound, skin irritation or pest problem.
Trimming the fur in between your pets paw pads will lessen the amount of dirt and debris that they tend to track inside the house. You can also be aware of any injury to your pets feet, when you keep their paws neatly trimmed regularly.
Regular grooming for long haired cats is especially important as a preventative measure in the build-up of hairballs. Most cat owners are probably aware of these nasty, slimy globs of fur and saliva that get coughed up. The less loose hair on your cat - then the less hair she can ingest to regurgitate at a later time.
Keeping the rear-end of your long haired cat neat and trim will also help to minimize any of those nasty poops that can get hung up in the fur. There is nothing worse that a dangly poop, especially if your kitty is sleeping in your bed!

The Best Grooming Scissors
My Choice Grooming Tools For Pets
As a cat breeder, I have of course a great deal of experience here. I have tried many special grooming scissors and there are some that I have found to be particularly good. I will share these with you here, with links for more in-depth information and also links to purchase them – if you would like to do that.
Detail Grooming Scissors
These Tiny Trimmers Are A Must-Have
The most handy grooming scissors that I particularly love, are the "Detail Grooming Scissors" by Eden Valley Pets. These are very small scissors at only 4 inches long - end to end. This makes them very easy to handle and very precise when trimming.
As a big plus, the tips on the scissor blades is rounded. This makes the detail grooming scissors a lot safer to use around all areas of your pet, since there is much less chance of any injury or fright from a sudden scissor prick.
Be aware that these are not an "all-over" coat scissor. Rather these tiny trimmers they are specifically designed for neatly and safely snipping around all those little places where you need to be extremely careful not to jab or prick your cat or dog with a sharp scissors point.
They come in very handy for all owners and are a boon for for owners who have their pet professionally groomed - but would like an in-between tiny trim to keep their dog's face (and rear end) neat and clean.
