Meet Lady Featherstone

Hello. My name is Lady, Lady Featherstone that is. It's pronounced feather-stun (like my husband's English Aunt's family says it).

Would you like to to know how I came to my forever home? Like most of you, I'm a mom too - 3 kids, and boy have they been a handful. Wouldn't trade them for anything though (well, no - not really).

From the start I had a difficult life. The first people I lived with didn't spend much time with me and I don't want to admit they were abusive, but let's say, they didn't think much of me. Because I was afraid of them and the things they put me through I came to have some physical and emotional problems. It's been a while and I'm getting better, but sometimes it's a bit tough.

Maybe you can visit with me for a little while. I promise not to take too much of your time. But it would be nice to make a few new friends.

Story told by Lady via her caregiver.

I'm so embarrassed for you to see me like this! My hair was a mess, very thin practically (coming out in clumps), and I had a bit of a pong to me. Ok, I didn't need to tell you that part, but you probably figured that out for yourself anyway.

I was very tired from having my babies, after all I was only a year old myself. My owners left me alone for weeks at a time with only some dog food left in a car port. I was starving and needed to eat, but I was not in any shape to feed my litter. God sent me to this walkway where I met some kind people who began to feed me on their steps.

By now I had begun to come around more. One day as the nice woman was opening the door I ran inside her house and scampered to the corner. "If I could just get some sleep," I thought. I napped for several hours with the people in the house not saying a word. It was if they knew something was wrong, so they just let me come in and rest. When I gained some strength I got up and they opened the door. This would happen for several weeks, but all the while I was learning I could trust them.

One of my babies was very sick, so I started to bring them to the door whenever I needed to eat. They were still nursing, but I knew I would get help here. The man of the house noticed that one of my boys started following him. Several times he would bring him back to the place I had hid my babies, but he wouldn't stay put. The man would run and my son would just run faster. It was pretty funny now that I think of it.

Saved from the Tornado and Storm

It was in the middle of a terrible storm and tornado warning that I had to move my babies to shelter. I had already moved one under a nearby porch. It wasn't the house where I was eating, but near where I had kept my babies.

As I was crossing the road with one in my mouth I dropped my baby girl. When I tried to gather her in my mouth again, the lady that was feeding me came running over and scooped my baby and me up in her arms. She had noticed us while looking out the window anxiously waiting for her husband to get home.

She took us into her house and ran back out the door to get one of my babies that was in the driveway (it was my son that always followed the man). Now two of my babies were inside, but I still had the one I already put under the porch.

The woman couldn't get him to come out, so she came back inside and got some food. It took quite a while of coaxing, but eventually she was able to pull him out from under the porch. It was my son who was sick. We were safe inside and out of the storm. Now what?

I like my new name.

She called me a pretty Lady!

Can you believe that? Even when

I didn't look like one, she made

me feel like an elegant lady.

Only God can save him now.

Staying Alive

This is one of my sons (the one with his long tail sort of like mine. My girl is on the left of him). I held him tight and did what I could for as long as I could. His fur was as spindly as mine, but it looked like he wasn't going to make it.

All of my kids were undernourished, full of fleas and tapeworms. However he was very tiny, actually the smallest of the litter and he didn't move around much.

The man named my one son, Jazzbo because he moved with rhythm and followed him everywhere.

The lady named my girl Jumpy. She did jump instead of walk then. Really.

As for me, my full name is

They say I am Royal!

I'm a true night kitty.

Sometimes I can get into trouble,

because I stay up when

everyone else is sleeping.

I suppose that is due to that fact

I was always on the run and

hid most of the day time.

I have a real bed! - Now I can get some sleep.

This is my bed. My parents put it inside a pillow case and then wrap a big fluffy blanket around the bed. It's soft, warm and cozy. What I like most about it is that it's really mine!

Catgo! Momba, Catwaltz, I can do them all. Lady is a great dancer.

I've been told that I am an "excellent" dancer, but I don't want to brag. I can do almost every kind of dance, but I'm not into R & B or Bluegrass (much anyway).

I do like Jazz though. Guess that's a given - duh! My new Dad isn't a good dancer at all, he can barely keep a beat. But my mom - she rocks. I do my best dancing with her.

Getting Good Food Makes A Difference

Having the right food when you are a baby makes all the difference in the world as to how you turn out as an adult. Since I didn't have the proper nourishment when I was growing and nursing, I have suffered some health issues and set backs.

Here you can see that I'm filling out ok, but still don't have that "glow" or shine to my fur. Not having the right vitamins for so long caused these problems to my skin, fur and teeth. They are things I have had to deal with for some time. Hey, but don't worry. My new parents are on it.

Friskies Canned Cat Food

Purina Friskies Pate Turkey & Giblets Dinner Cat Food - (24) 5.5 oz. Pull-top Can

This is my favorite wet food. I like the shreds version the best, but the pate is easier to eat with less teeth.

Purina Cat Chow - Cat food I will eat. - This is a brand of cat food that I do like. SInce I do not go outdoors any more (& I'm glad), this works best for m

It has the vitamins I need and helps

control my hair ball issues. Having

long hair, it matters. So you might

like this for your kitty too.

My Favorite Treats.

Frankly, to be purr-fectly honest with you I don't like many treats at all. I guess that's how I keep my figure.

I will snack on a few things, but it is VERY rare. I basically stick to my dry food. Not a meat kitty myself.

You could say I'm a veg-a-cat.

Treats I Likes - I prefer the crunchy kinds best.

Once in a while I will eat a treat, but usually not. My new parents try to find things I like.

On holidays and birthdays they may give me a treat of Friskies turkey and gravy pate'.

My Toys & Personal Product Review - Toys I play with - sometimes.

Being honest about how my life was, I'd have to say that playtime wasn't something I did much. I'm a very timid kitty. Most of the time I was hiding and trying to survive. It wasn't until long after I was placed in my new forever home that I learned to trust someone enough to play.

Now I have to be in the mood to play, and only when not too many animals or people are around. But when I do, believe me these toys are F-U-N! I actually have these.

OurPets Play-N-Squeak Twice the Mice Cat Toy, 2pc

Have you ever seen these? It's almost like having a real mouse, but without all the yuckyness to it. They're fun to kick at too.

Grooming Helped My Fur to Grow Back

Something that I have come to love is that my mom combs my hair many times a day. At first it wasn't a thing I liked not being used to having it combed, but the more she kept it clean and knot free, the more it felt good.

After a year the old dry unhealthy fur grew out and new healthy fur grew. Using a brush and comb removed the dead skin. Long hair isn't easy to keep tangle free, but daily grooming can take care of that problem.

These are the things she uses to help my fur say clean and looking good.

Brush for Cats

Safari Cat Self-Cleaning Slicker Brush
Safari Cat Self-Cleaning Slicker Brush

This is another product I have to have. My parents use this along with the Safari Cat Shedding Comb, Wood Handle (also sold on this site). You really can't do without them if you want nice hair, and what lady doesn't?

KONG Cat Grooming Brush

KONG ZoomGroom, Cat Grooming Brush
KONG ZoomGroom, Cat Grooming Brush

I know this is not a toy, but it is something I cannot live without. It feels so good when I am brushed, and I get brushed lots of times each day. Don't forget to brush your pets every day.

Pssst. Come closer.

This is a little personal.

I have a real problem with the litter box.

What is the problem?

I don't like using it. You see I didn't have one before, and the other cats keep me from using it or hit me when I am coming out. So I tend to do a no-no sometimes.

I really am trying. My parents have even put out another litter box for me. Wasn't that nice?

Every time I use it my new parents just say the nicest things to me. They have never gotten mad at me for "missing" (if you know what I mean).

N.O.A.H. - No Outcast Animal Homeless

As you can see, I love my new forever home, and they love me back. They were even so kind to keep my family together. Yes, my three kids are still with me. We are all one big happy family.

There are thousands of mom's like me who need a home with their kids. Please consider adopting a cat family if you can. It makes a world of difference. Believe me, I know.

This is me now - Lady 2012 - I am very shy, but friendly.

I had surgery on my mouth a few months ago, but I am up to eating again - just not as fast. Over all I'd say, I'm doing ok.  No more hiding in car ports, houses or under porches wondering where my next meal is coming from or how am I going to care for my kids.

We're home now, thank God, and we're all doing ok.

Sorry about the lighting, but Lady is difficult to capture on film.

Magic Coat Cat Tearless Shampoo, 12-Ounce

I'm really fussy about what I use on my pets. One product I like to use is a tearless shampoo that is formulated especially for pets.

Keep your kitty's coat smelling fresh and looking shiny with this shampoo that is enriched with protein and lanolin to moisturize your cat's skin. It will not harm the eyes or skin, and can be used on kittens.

You have a remarkable story and are a very pretty cat. It helps people to know that adopting animals like you can be a great asset so you are doing a great job. Featured on Blessed by Skiesgreen 2012-2 and also on Star's Kittens. Hugs. Oh I mean purrrr purrrr.

Lady Featherstone, you sure do tell a cat's tale here and you do it very well with some real heart rending moments of time that you have shared. Like Kermit the Frog says, its not easy being green and I like how you point out that your nutrition while growing up and while carrying and caring for kittens took a toll on your health...but still you had a beauty that was seen by the man and the woman and now here you are, all together with two families becoming one, I love a happy ending! (I won't tell anyone about your little problem)

What a lovely story. So glad the family is together:) Unfortunately I' allergic to cats so enjoy them from afar.

What a sweet story. Bless you for taking in all four cats. Why are some people so kind, like you, and others do cruel?

On a lighter note, I love the gif at the very bottom.

I think Lady Featherstone and her babies are absolutely gorgeous. An abused stray that I took in also had trouble hitting the litter box and I often wonder if that is why she had been so abused. I am so glad that you were able to rescue this sweet cat family.

Thank you for publishing this beautiful lens. Both Olivia Felini and I found it most enjoyable. And Olivia gives it a full four paws rating.
