Do you love dogs? Cats? Lizards? Birds? If you do, and if you would like to earn some extra income, consider pet boarding! I started about a year ago and LOVE it!! I own a dog rescue and the extra income from dog boarding is now paying our monthly vet bill for the rescue! It's fabulous... why I didn't think of it before, I'll never know! I spend all my days taking care of dogs anyway, so what's one more! I've been having lots of fun doing this. I meet awesome new dogs, get to love them for a few days, and then they go home! I work mostly through DogVacay and the process they use is seamless! The boarding guest pays DogVacay when they confirm the boarding. Then the day after the guest leaves, DogVacay pays me (minus their nominal fee)! DogVacay provides me with complete liability insurance and emergency vet care available so I have no worries at all.

You can set up your calendar with available dates, decide what breeds of dogs you'll accept, and what services you will offer. You even choose your daily rate to charge! (Check out your local competition!)

I always do a "meet and greet" with a new client before the boarding date. That assures they will be comfortable in my environment. It also teaches the dog that they came here and they went home. They need to know that for later when they come to stay.

Getting started in dog boarding is easy. There are two major dog/pet boarding companies online, DogVacay.com and Rover.com. You sign up, create a profile for visitors to see, set up your payment options, and then wait for the requests to come in!

Give it a try - you just might find a whole new career awaits you! Be sure to check out your local laws and regulations on dog boarding before you start.
