Meet Bruno the Third, Our Bulldog
Our Sweet Bruno the Bulldog
We used to breed English Bulldogs and raised 4 to adulthood: Bruno, Penny, Pittypat and Bruno II. We had all 4 for many years and enjoyed them very much. Miss Pittypat left this world in February 2010 and was the last of our bulldogs. We missed them terribly and occasionally talked about getting another one someday. We read an ad in the paper about 8 bulldog pups for sale in a town close by. My husband suggested that I call and ask if we could come take a look. I knew what that meant! The time was right and we were ready for another dog. They had eight beautiful pups with both parents on site. My husband was immediately attracted to one little pup in particular. It surprised me because this one was almost solid white with just a few fawn markings and our other bulldogs were mostly fawn with only a little white. Please continue to scroll and watch Bruno grow and become a very important member of our family. He is so big and actually looks more like an American Bulldog than an English and we love him dearly! Bruno has graduated Puppy School at PetSmart and has also graduated Alpha Dog Training.Photo by OhMe taken August 2012 of Bruno. Photos on this page are not to be copied without permission. Thank you.
Why did we name this dog Bruno III?
Seems like we could have come up with something original
Old Bruno was our first bulldog and he was so very special to us. We always knew that our next dog would have the same name. We like the name and we like remembering our old Bruno and Bruno II even though this Bruno is not at all related to them.It was so interesting that the first day we had little Bruno, he made his way back to our bedroom and I found him lying in the very same spot where old Bruno had died. It gave me cold chills.

Little Bruno loved to be rocked as a puppy
and sung to
Everyday Little Bruno got rocked and sung to. Now, there just aren't many on this earth that would actually let me sing to them so I know Bruno is special. His favorite song is Barges which happens to be the same song that I sung to my son and grandson when I rocked them.We gradually got into a little routine and enjoyed our walks and then settling in a grassy spot shaded by a Dogwood Tree.In the afternoons when our grandson is here, he likes to play Soccer and is learning to fetch.
Bruno is lovable, caring, and full of energy!

What do you think of Bruno so far? - I think he is so precious!
Do you think Bruno and my hubby look alike?
I think both of them are precious but then I may be a little bit prejudiced.
What do you think of Little Bruno?
Go Pendleton Bulldogs!
That's right! The Bulldog is the mascot for Pendleton High School
Now, you might have been thinking of the Georgia Bulldogs and you might have noticed the Clemson Tiger leash we are using with Bruno. If so, this may have seemed a little odd until you learn that we are the Pendleton Bulldogs and I do love Pendleton. The Bulldogs is one more reason for me to love Pendleton.
.Our grandson is a Freshman at Pendleton High School this year. He also went to Pendleton Elementary and their mascot is the Bullpups. I think Little Bruno ought to be their mascot, don't you?
Bruno thinks he would like to be the Pendleton High School Mascot - What do you think?
Of course, Pendleton High School doesn't have a live mascot. I think I heard that at some point they tried it and the bulldog was too big a liability which I certainly can understand. Therefore, we will just pretend at home.
I love it when OhMe works at her computer!
Bruno is taking a nap while I make this lens - He is really excited about having his very own lens. Can you tell?

Our Morning Routine
People and Dogs are creatures of habit, for sure!
Every morning we wake very early and I take Bruno out for his morning business. Then we sit on the porch and discuss the plans for the day, working the puzzles and sipping coffee. When my hubby jingles his keys, it means that it is time for Bruno to go for his morning ride. He gets so excited and runs to the door. As soon as my hubby opens the door, Bruno heads for his car and waits for him to get it unlocked. I am not sure where they go but they ride around town. When they return, we enjoy another cup of coffee and our friend, Nate, comes over to take Bruno for his walk. When hubby leaves to go have breakfast with his buddies, I start getting ready for work. When I am in the shower, Bruno sits on our bed and watches TV. When I am ready to leave, I can never get him off the bed. I say, "Ok, Bruno, I am going to call Daddy" and Bruno sticks his ear out for me to put the phone in it. I call my hubby at work and he tells Bruno to get off the bed and go into the kitchen. Bruno hops down and heads down the hall. Amazing.
Our routine has changed greatly since I first wrote this article. Due to health issues, my husband is not the early riser he used to be and no longer goes to breakfast with his buddies. We can't let Bruno go walking anymore because he is just too hard to handle. Now, we just let him out the back in the fenced in area.

What We Have Learned
Did I happen to mention that if there is one thing we have learned, it is Old Folks Don't Need To Own A Bulldog but we are glad we do!
Since first writing this article, our routine has changed drastically. We no longer let Bruno go out the front door on a leash. He is just too hard for us to handle and there are so many distractions with it being on the road that we are afraid he will get away from us or pull us down. Now, since we had the swimming pool filled in, he has a doggie park (of sorts) and we can open the back door and let him out. The only problem is that he wants us right there with him when he is outside. We sit up on the porch under the awning and try to encourage him to go out in the fenced in area to do his business. Most of the time he just wants to sit with us.
