Meet Our Dog Sasha
All about my dog Sasha, a wonderful mixed-breed dog we adopted in late 2009. She is my li'l buddy. She is my companion on walks and seems to know when I am tired -- she listens to my breathing I guess, and she'll slow way down for me. She is really a great dog and it's hard to believe that someone gave her up to county animal control. I would certainly never give her up, she is precious!

How we found Sasha
I write a local blog and keep up with news in our area. Whenever certain city names come up on the Internet, I get an email that includes the link to each article. It's a tool I use to be able to be more informed about what's going on in the city. Well, one day I wasn't even looking for a dog at the time, but there was a link to an animal rescue group. I checked out the rescue group's website, and out of curiosity looked at the adoptable dogs they had. Sasha's photo wasn't very attractive, I must admit. But the description of her amazed me. All I could think was, "If all this is true, she is our PERFECT dog!" I had to find out if it was true, so I emailed the rescue group. The lady told me they would be at PetCo for an adoption event the next day. So we met Sasha, and she immediately fit in with us. She is calm yet playful, and the most balanced and smart dog I've ever known. She will bark and act in a protective manner, but only when there is a good reason to do so.
Our family adopted Sasha in November of 2009 from Bliss Animal Haven of Loganville Georgia. Sasha had been surrendered to DeKalb County Animal Control, and Bliss Animal Haven saved her from being euthanized. The people who owned her gave her up because they said she was "too quiet." Sasha's veterinarian says that is a weird reason for anyone to give up a dog, and he doesn't believe the real reason was given. Sasha does have a laceration scar on her right eye - so the vet says that maybe she didn't get along with another dog in the home. We haven't had any problems with her getting along with other dogs at all.

Why she is named Sasha
She was already named Sasha, but her personality is more like a Lucy, so sometimes we call her Sasha-Lucy. Since she hangs out with me while I write in my blog, I nicknamed her Sasha the Blog Dog. But it seems like every member of the family has a nickname for her.
Sasha loves kids! I have never seen a dog who likes kids so much.
She will immediately head toward wherever children are.
Sasha's top dislikes
3. Squirrels/Chipmunks (She's sure they're up to no good, no good at all)
5. Wet grass
6. Walking on grass (she prefers pavement)
7. Closed doors (especially doors that keep her from me)
8. Waiting for me to come out of the bathroom (she will heavily sigh, and I hear a thump as she lies down next to the door - but she won't come in the bathroom if I leave the door open, because she is afraid of having a bath.)
9. Being left at home alone for more than a couple hours. I try to never do this. When she gets frustrated, she pulls paper towels or anything paper out of the trash can and chews it. Fortunately I work from home, and whenever possible, I take her with me when I leave.
We love that she loves to cuddle and we can hold her like a baby.
Favorite things to do with Sasha
Sasha loves to ride in the car, especially when one of the young human people need to be picked up from school. You can almost hear her shout, "Shotgun!" as she hops in. She definitely smiles.
She just loves to go with her humans anywhere we go. She loves to go to the Snellville Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings. When we are about half a mile away, she starts sniffing out the car window - she can smell all the good foods! She also loves going there because she gets a lot of petting and attention. She likes to do her business on the grounds of Snellville City Hall. I'm starting to think she could be making political statements.
She loves to go for walks and to the park. She likes to lie right next to me while I'm making a Squidoo page like this one, or doing any kind of work. Unless it's raining. If its raining, she will stay under my chair.
Safety-Knot Rawhide Bone - Sasha's Favorite
These keep Sasha from going into the trash can for comfort paper towels to chew.
Sasha's fave snacks
Sasha's favorite snack is the Dried Chicken Liver treats we buy from Chateau Le Pup, a seller at the Snellville Farmers' Market. The dried livers have the consistency of potato chips, which a lot of dogs love. I like that they can be broken into little pieces easily for training. They are also very affordable! If you don't live in the Snellville area and want to get some, you can call Chateau Le Pup at 770-826-8992 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org
She also likes Milkbone Dog Biscuits and a rawhide bone every now and again seems to help her with the stress of being in a house with 4 kids.
I wish I could find a rawhide bone for humans! I need some help with my stress! LOL!
Sasha loves these furry toys that don't have stuffing. She pretends she's hunting them, but I have also seen her licking and grooming it, so I think she 'parents' it. So she enjoys this toy in more than one way. She likes to hunt but also shows maternal instincts.
