My Dog Loves His Motorcycle Pet Carrier

Updated on August 29, 2013

We take our "Road Dog" with us in his Motorcycle Pet Carrier!

We take our little "Road Dog" everywhere with us. Well for us it's easy we don't have to deal with ice and snow since we are in S. Florida so Boo Boo does get to ride where ever we go.

Happy and safe travels to you and yours!

About The Boo Boo Coach

After 7 years of having our Boo Boo ride with us on our Harley Davidson and much trial and error we finally created the perfect pet carrier for our little dog.

The first "Boo Boo Coach" was made of leather. The bottom that sits just above your gas tank was leather, the sides and straps as well. It held up nice for many years. We still have that one put away just for the memories. My husband decided he would see if he could design one that was just a bit sturdier and he came up with the current model which is made of a thick plastic bottom and bendable plastic sides that would follow the curve of the bottom. The sides and bottom are screwed together all the way around which gives the carrier a solid frame work with a carpet bottom for comfort and some grip should Boo need it. He added back straps for extra security and there it was...a new and improved "Boo Boo Coach". The trial run was a success. Boo Boo traveled well in it for the maiden run of 300 miles.

By the way we don't lift him up to get in the coach. He uses my floor board to jump onto the motorcycle seat and then he steps into his carrier. He's adapted very well to riding with us this way. He knows he has to be tethered to his harness (which keeps him from falling either way) and he knows he has to wear his doggles over his eyes.

When we stop he'll use a paw to push his doggles up on his forehead. That to me is just too funny!

Boo Boo rides with us everywhere we go and at any speed safe and secure in his carrier right in front of his Daddy on top of the gas tank.

More About The Boo Boo Coach

With on easy nut the Boo Boo Coach attaches quick and easy. It comes back off just as easy. We do nothing but mount it and go and our little riding buddy is in front where we can see him. My husband tried a carrier years ago that mounted to the back of the bike that he designed but he was nervous with Boo Boo riding that way because he couldn't see him at all times so he decided he needed to make a change and that's how we came to have this pet carrier.

With a tether to his harness and with the secure back straps our Boo Boo cruises right along with us at any speed and anywhere we care to go. He comfortable and being able to see him we're comfortable.

He truly loves the wind in his face. Boo Boo doesn't just ride along he really rides. He wears his doggles on the road but no helmet cuz Boo Boo's moto is, "let those who ride decide!"

Our Concerns

We take every step we can to keep our Boo Boo safe and comfortable just like we would ourselves. His comfort is a priority to us. Our saddle bags always have a clean bottle of drinking water and a drinking bowl in them. He owns two pairs of doggles with one as spare in the bags because his eyes are as important as ours. We stop quite often just so he can walk around and relax, get a drink, sniff out something of interest and relieve himself. Rest assured our Boo is loved!

Boo Looks Proud Of His New Cut

All shampooed and trimmed up in his new Lion cut he looks like he's checking out the weather to decide which direction he would like to ride in. He drives my husband just wheels the bike for him!

Every Dog Has His Day

Every dog has his day when he needs a bath and a clipping. After many years of testing out clippers we came to the conclusion that it's best to buy the clippers rated for clipping animal fur and not the kind usef for trimming people hair. They just aren't strong enough to get through thick fur and cause the pet lot's of aggravation and sometimes pain from pulling their fur. So if your pet has thick fur or an undercoat. and you shave your pet yourself, spend the extra dollar to get a clipper set that will work best and last longest.

Does your husband cell the boo-boo carriers? That is exactly what I'm looking for for my furry passenger! Let me know!

I agree with GramaBarb. Love motorcycles by themselves, don't get me wrong. But more Boo Boo would be great. :-)

Great lens and reassuring information. Only one thing I wished for while looking at it - more photos plus a couple big ones of Boo Boo.

I have seen a cat riding on a motorcycle here in Toronto (Canada) . . an orange tabby cat. I am sure this is very rare (and I suppose you have to get them used to it while they are young). Cool . . .

@Diana Wenzel: I have seen a cat ride on a motorcycle but it's rare. Thanks for the comment and best wishes in the New Year!

I know that dogs sure do love to ride along. My cats, on the other hand, have no desire to join me for any kind of moto adventure. Wonder if anyone has convinced a cat to enjoy the ride?

My dogs love to ride and would probably like this. But they are too big and I don't think I could bring myself to do it. But I'm glad you dog likes it.

My cats would never go for this, but Boo Boo seems to enjoy himself. Thanks for providing safety tips!

Boo Boo is adorable - what a rock star! Good idea on the doggles, my dogs get pretty miserable when the wind blows something in their eyes. I love how you and your husband have looked after Boo Boo's safety and well being - you can tell he's very loved :).

The image (in my mind) of your doggie pushing up his doggles with his paw made me more than smile, I nearly laughed out loud from sheer delight. While I am neither a biker nor a dog owner, I deeply appreciate and understand the thrill of the ride and the companionship of a pooch ... and I would adore taking my little friend along for a ride with such a useful carrier. This is a wonderful idea, and I'm going to share it with my friends who ride. Kudos to you!
