Names for Red Dogs

Some of the most popular dog breeds are available in red coated varieties.

A partial list includes Dachshunds, Irish Setters, Labrador Retrievers, Poodles, Norfolk Terriers, Miniature Pinschers, Redbone Coonhouns, Chow Chows, and Basset Hounds.

Many of these dog breeds also come in other colors, but I think I love the red-haired ones best!

I would love a red standard poodle like the one shown to the right. It is a gorgeous dog and that red is a great color!

Nice lens. Ginger for a cat but not sure for a dog. It is funny how people call a red dog red or like us we have a blue heeler and people call him blue. Although that is not his name. We don't mind though.

I once knew a very gingery-red Irish Setter who was named "Fire" - really, this is true. But his owner must have had some kind of nickname to use for a recall, wouldn't you think? Otherwise, just calling your dog's name could lead to public alarm, confusion, and most likely a charge of public mischief. :)

One of the sweetest, cheekiest dog I ever knew was a ruby Cavalier King Charles spaniel called Poppy who belonged to a friend. I can never hear the name without thinking of that little dog with a huge personality - she acted like she was a big star. Sadly she died a few years ago.
