Parrots have an average life span of up to 80 years in the wild.

They vary in size a lot. Size of parrots range from 3.5 in to 40 in(8.7cm to 100cm). They also vary in weight from 65 g to 1.6 kg.

They have been mentioned in Egyptian, Greek and Roman histories; so parrots have been a part of human history for a long time.

A parrot fossil found in Denmark is dated 54 mya(million years ago).

Pygmy of New Guinea is the smalles parrot being just 3½ inches long. The largest of all parrot species is hyacinth macaw which is about 40 inch long.

The Cuban Amazon(Cuban parrot) is also known as rose-throated parrot.

Eggs of masked lovebirds need 23 days of incubation for hatching.

We all know that parrots are known for their voice mimicry; but did you know that African gray parrots are said to be the best mimics. African Grey parrots can live for 50 to 60 years, so they might outlive you.

The yellow-shouldered Amazon parrot is also called lora in its native range.

They have roughly 372 species in 86 genera and can be found all over the world, especially in warmer climates.

Parrots normally eat seeds, nuts, buds, fruits and other plant material. But a few parrot species also eat rats and worms.

Parrots bond very closely to their owners and doesn't take the change of owner very well.

Parrots have the ability to exert tremendous biting pressure.
