Squirrels Fight Over the Feeder

Squirrels fight over the feeder

Breakfast at the Feeder

The squirrels know what time breakfast is and are waiting. As soon as the peanuts are in the feeder - and I and the dogs are safely back in the house - the game is afoot. The further feeder in the background has Squirrel Snack - a few peanuts, corn kernels and sunflower seeds; but the deck feeder has just peanuts - and peanuts are the preferred snack. After the deck peanuts are gone, they will kick all the other snacks out the the mixed snack feeder and get the peanuts first - then eat the other stuff off the ground. At the end of the video, you see my dog is keeping a watchful eye on the deck guests from inside the sliding glass door.

I intended this video to go at the end of the previous Hub (see link below), but you can't add videos to an existing Hub, so since I had to make a new hub for the video, I thought I would add some more pictures too - like the acrobat eating hanging from the feeder.

Headed for the feeder.

Injured Squirrel at the Feeder

Even injured squirrels have to eat. This one seems to have smashed his paw somehow. He has some trouble eating and climbing.

Very nice video of the squirrels. It's fun to watch, too and very interesting. Great hub!
