SueSue The Rescue Schnauzer Princess!
SueSue (left, shown with her "sister" Ladybug) came into our rescue, Sheila's Schnauzies, back in 2006 as a 4-month-old puppy. She was living with a toddler girl and supposedly nipped at her. (In five years, I've never seen her offer to bite). She was a bit "hyper," and still is! She turned five this year and has been my constant shadow. Since I will not normally place a dog known to have bitten for adoption, she earned "sanctuary" status at a very young age!
Sue's favorite thing to do now is patrol the neighborhood activities via the front picture window, and hang out with Mom. In this photo, she is modeling one of her many hand crocheted sweaters (it helps to have a mom who is a crochet designer!)
She started out as Gretel!
The name Gretel didn't seem to fit... so I renamed her after my oldest BFF, Susan Ann.
She has always been a very thin doggie, very wiry and strong, and fast as lightning! (Just ask the squirrels). She has several fears we try to help her with - loud noises like thunder and lightning, fireworks... and cooking.
Sue went through a bad kitchen fire with me in 2010 down at the farm in southeast Missouri before we moved back to Omaha. She refused to go outside with the other dogs, electing to stay by my side while I tried to put the fire out. While she was not injured, she was severely traumatized apparently. Now, every time the smoke alarm goes off, she goes into a panic attack. She will just shake uncontrollably and stand next to my legs. My poor girl.
On a happier note, Sue loves chasing things! She loves her furry toys that squeak more than anything. She is a very good girl for haircuts, and enjoys "getting pretty for Mommy."

My Favorite Thing Sue Does...
She does this little cute thing where she climbs up on my chest clear up to my head and rubs her cheek into my face, snuggling. Quite irresistible!

Sue Has A Special Talent!
She's saved my life more than once.
I'm a diabetic, and also get attacks of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). She somehow senses when I am low and she'll get right up in my face and start doing what she knows will wake me up - licking my face incessantly! She works to get my attention and then I will wake up enough to check my blood sugar. She's quite amazing, really.
I'm Sue's Mommy
I'm Sheila, and I have had a Miniature Schnauzer Rescue called Sheila's Schnauzies since 2000. Although I've had more than 50 dogs come and go on to their forever homes, some dogs just tell you they want to stay! Susie super-glued herself to me from day one. My little girl schnauzer, Sheina Marie, had just passed away from cancer when Sue came in, and she helped to mend my broken heart.
