Sugar Glider Recipes

When I decided to get my first Sugar Glider, I went online and searched for Sugar Glider Recipes... I had no clue there were so many different recipes and opinions about what to feed these strange little critters.  I have been breeding them for quite a few years now and im still learning new things and always changing the things I put in my Sugar Glider Recipes.

I decided to create this page to share with you some of my favorite sugar glider recipes as well as what food other people are feeding their sugar gliders.

I also have a page called Sugar gliders and it covers just about everything you ever wanted to know about owning sugar gliders.

This is my nightly sugar glider recipe

Modified Leadbeaters Mix

This is just my staple diet, along with this they get fresh fruits and veggies nightly as well as protein sources like eggs and bugs.

This sugar glider recipe freezes to about the consistency of ice cream, so it's easy to scoop out a serving of it each night

Apple Juice 1/2 cup

Honey 1/2 cup

Gerber Baby cereal (dry flakes) 1/2 cup

Boiled egg 2 (I leave the shell on)

Wheat Germ 1/4 cup

Herptivite Vitamin Supplement 1 tsp

Rep-Cal (Calcium supplement with no phosphorus) 1 1/4 tsp

Store in the Freezer

Sometimes I will add a 1 4oz bottle PREMIXED Gerber juice with yogurt (Mixed Fruit or Banana) or a 2 1/2 oz jar of Stage 1 or 2 Heinz, Gerber or Beechnut Chicken baby food

You can pick up your calcium on eBay

You can use reptile calcium if you have a hard time locating sugar glider calcium

Glider Shredded Wheat Pancakes

You will need plain or fruit flavored shredded wheats and an egg.

Crumble up the shredded wheat and scramble it with the egg, then cook like a pancake.

You can freeze the leftovers and feed them another day!

Cheerio Chains

Using fishing line, attach a toy at the bottom and string Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios and Multi Grain Cheerios together. Tie to the cage.

You can also make hoops and swings! Keep in mind, you will have to remake them every few days!

Sugar Glider Smoothie Mix

Fresh or frozen mixed fruit

Container of plain or flavored yogurt

1/4 tsp Karo syrup

Apple or orange juice to blend

Blend together and serve! Delicious!

These can be frozen in ice cube trays for a nightly treat

Glider Birthday Cake

Pancake mix, prepared with applesauce instead of oil

Sunmaid Dried Fruit Bits

Fresh/Freeze Dried Crickets or Meal worms

Add enough fruit and crickets to make the batter full, but still stick together. Put them in tiny cake cups and then bake at 350 until firm and springy! Yum!

You can 1/2 the recipe, and there will still be lots leftover.

Fruit Gummies

two strawberries

one apple peeled

2/3 cups white flour

1/2 cup water

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Dice and chop all ingredients into small

pieces and pour into a medium sized bowl. Smash ingredients until a

mush is formed.

Drain a bit of water if too much is left over. place teaspoon sized treats onto

a cooking sheet about 1 inch apart. Place in oven and bake for 6-10

minutes or until brown. When done, let set for 3 minutes and then feed

this tasty treat to your cuddly little pet!!!

DO NOT make the mistake of feeding reptile calcium to your gliders, it's not meant for them, it's for reptiles, not sugar gliders and thus the labeling.

Thanks so much for the sugar glider recipes that you supplied. I recently lost my sugar gliders recipe sheet and when I looked on your page I found it. I was so excited to see the same exact recipe on your page, and I will definitely be taking some of the other recipes away with me to try out on my Alvin and Theodor. I sure they will greatly appreciate the new tasty treats that will be available to them. Thanks so much again.
