What Is A Swordfish

A swordfish is a saltwater fish that lives in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Ocean. Swordfish swim below 2,000 feet. These Swordfish have a sword like nose that they use to injure prey. The Swordfish can swim up to 60 miles per hour which is faster than a car's average speed. However, despite this great speed and power, human intervention has dramatically decreased the Swordfish population through overfishing. Swordfish are even unhealthy for humans because they contain mercury. So, why do we overfish Swordfish? They are magnificent creatures who caught my heart when I had to do a research project on the Swordfish.
