Even though your kitty might be a fan of store bought treats(I know my cats are) there are times when cat treat recalls might happen. For those who believe in making home made treats and have the time for it, I give you my full respect! Recently, I have started looking into ways to give my cat healthy treats, but sometimes his stomach acts a little sensitive to what I give him. Every cat is different! Here are a few recipes for healthy treats for cats:

Tuna "Cookies"

1 x 8oz can of tuna in oil

2 C cornmeal

2 C flour

3/4 C of water

2/3 C vegetable oil

1/2 tsp salt

Combine all ingredients together in a bowl. On a floured surface, knead the combined ingredients into a dough and roll it out to 1/4 inch thickness. Slice the roll into small pieces and place them on a greased baking sheet. Preheat the oven and bake at 350 degrees, for 25-30 minutes.

Kitty Biscuits

1 1/2 cups natural rolled oats

1/4 C vegetable oil

1/2 C flour

1/2 C tuna packed in water with no salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients. Dust hands with flour and form small, 1/2-inch thick, round biscuits. Set on greased cookie sheet. Bake 30 minutes or until biscuits are slightly browned. Cool 30 minutes before serving.

Beef and Cheese Mini Biscuits

1/2 C dry cat food

2 C finely shredded,cooked ground beef

1/4 C carrot (grated)

1/2 C grated parmesan cheese

1 large egg

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the cat food in a food processor/blender and grind to a coarse powder.

After grinding, measure 1/2 C. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients, mixing thoroughly.

Form the dough into small-sized balls.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the bottoms of the treats are golden brown.

Remove from the oven, let cool thoroughly.

I have never given my kitty treats, only because she seems to consider her cat food as treat enough. Great lens!

@SusanDeppner: Oreo! What a cute name! I'm assuming she is black and white? :) I have a solid black cat named Coal and he has a small speck of white hairs on his chest. Thats interesting to here your cat won't eat tuna, i figured that was a cat favorite! I know if i stuck some tuna infront of my other cats they'd about take my finger off for it LoL Your Oreo sounds sweet! Such a cute name!

I used to give my cats treats, but they absolutely drove me crazy begging for them and didn't even want their regular food. I have to wonder what's in those treats that seems so addictive to cats. Oreo is fine with her regular food now, though, and a very healthy almost 19-year-old little girl. I'd try the recipes, but she won't eat tuna or anything else from a can, the silly kitty!
