Unique Fish Tanks

Updated on July 6, 2014

Cool Fish Tanks!

When I was growing up, my family had two large ugly fish tanks and two equally ugly small ones. And when I got my first fish, a Betta named George, the only fish tank available was a plain goldfish bowl.

Today, fish tanks are made to be beautiful eye-catchers instead of ugly eye-sores. Today, you can get anything from a decorative 1 gallon fish tank to an eye catching 700 gallon coffee table aquarium. You can even buy a large aquarium that fits in your wall! Take a look at these unique aquariums and cool fish tanks.

I Love My Fish Tank Clock

I love cool fish tanks. They add personality to a room and they're good conversation starters. So when I saw this fish tank clock on Amazon, I knew I had to have it. I can honestly say, it's my favorite purchase in the last year....

Unique Betta Bowls - Cool Fish Tanks

These bases are hand painted and the glass bowls are hand blown. Each bowl also includes battery operated LED 3-point lighting.

Magic Globe Aquarium, 5-GallonCHECK PRICE

Aquatica Magic Globe - Fountain WellCHECK PRICE

These 5 gallon aquariums are totally cool. It's unique construction allows the tank to be top sealed, while letting the water run out into a waterfall. The waterfall is actually a filter system that cleans and aerates the water and then returns it back into the tank. It even has cool multi color led lights to make it "glow in the dark". Believe me, this magic aquarium will amaze guests of any age!

Rectangular Fish Tanks

This 30 gallon aquarium comes complete with pump, high-capacity filter, lighting, extension cord, decorative plants, under-gravel filtration, and air pump. It's available with a blue or black background.

AquaTower 30 Gallon Rectangle Aquarium

This 30 gallon aquarium comes complete with pump, high-capacity filter, lighting, extension cord, decorative plants, under-gravel filtration, and air pump. It's available with a blue or black background.

Teddy Bear Aquarium

More Fish Tanks for Kids

These 18 inch plush Teddy Bear Fish Tanks hold a 1 gallon plastic fish bowl in their tummy. What's even cooler is that you feed your fish through the teddy bears mouth! The led fish bowl light can double as a nightlight. Plus you can record a 10 second message that will play back with a pinch to the bears ear. Includes 8.8 oz aquarium gravel, small fish net, a decorative aquarium plant, and a velcro bow accessory.

Although I'm only showing 4 of them below, there's actually 20 different animals to choose from!

If you ever wanted a fish but didn't have enough room for the tank, you should try one of these. These would also make a great first tank for a child.

Beautiful Selection! As you said, the aquariums need not be the black iron-framed monstrosities any more!

I'm totally amazed at the different aquariums available these days. When my kids were little, there wasn't a lot of choice. I think my favorites would have to be the Magic Fountains, because they're so unique and probably more healthy for the fish. But actually, there are so many that catch the eye, if I had to choose to buy one, it would be an awfully hard decision. Blessed by a SquidAngel.

I like the magic fountains - they seem like a good choice for the health of the fish. Some of these designs may not support a fish very long if the water isn't changed often. But what cute designs!

I love the table aquariums, had a nice little beta at work and a few fish at home, sadly they are all in the big ocean now, but is so so relaxing to watch them

These are quite beautiful its tough to pick a favourite but if I had to, I would pick the clear fish shaped bowl. It is just so attractive in its simplicity!

I like every one of these fish tanks! I especially like that easel aquarium, though, that is really nice. I'd love that on my desk but am afraid I might spend more time watching the fish than creating Squidoo lenses.

We used to have one fish tank held upside down in another, larger tank. It was held in place by brackets and I always thought of it as a two floor condo. It used the same principle as holding a full glass upside down with the lip inside a container of water. The hubby was quite the inventor.

They are all interesting in their own unique way. When I was a child I always thought that when I get rich I am going to have a HUGE fishtank in behind the bath so I can lie back in the suds with a glass of wine, soft music in the background, and watch the fish swim around. Haven't quite made it yet, AND my current bathtub is backed by a window....hmmm, gonna have to work on that idea some more.....along with the RICH part....lol

I like bow front aquariums the best. i think they look stylish and you can view them from anywhere in a room with little distortion. If price isn't a concern i'd recommend an acrylic aquarium over glass.

A friend of mine has an aquarium built into his lounge wall. It is a very attractive focal point of the room and whenever I visit I always at some point find myself staring at it in a hypnotic state. It is like having a constantly changing picture hanging on your wall.

You're right the newer aquariums are truly focal points in a room. I still have my trusty 10 gallon rectangle though. Love to watch the fish.

I love fish tanks and the fish and plants who live in them. I haven't had one for years but I'd love to get back into the hobby. I like all the ones you've featured here but I think the wall mounted aquariums look really sleek. They kind of remind me of Captain Piccard's aquarium on the Enterprise.

I liked looking at all the aquariums, but my favorites here were the fish clock and Ancient Egypt fishtanks. Isn't it fun to watch fish in an aquarium? I don't have an aquarium but maybe someday!

We have a saltwater fish tank. Sure it is nice, but I always wanted something nicer. Ours is a bowfront aquarium, but it sure would look better in a different tank. I really like the coffee table ones.
