SheilaSchnauzies is a Miniature Schnauzer rescuer, writer, crochet designer, gardener, crafter, wife, mom & friend living in Omaha, NE.

Meet Winnie Mae!

if you could take a precious, sweet, loving, and slightly frisky doggie soul and wrap it in fur, that would be our Winnie. She belongs to my daughter, Carianne. Off and on, I have been privileged to have both of them living at my home. Winnie now lives with Cari in her new home and I miss her terribly! But now and then Cari goes on a vacay and Winnie gets to stay at Gramma's house, along with her sister Macie the white german shepherd.

Winnie is the singlemost photogenic dog of all the many dozens of dogs I have ever known. She also has the sweetest personality and most even temperament, too.

Do I sound proud? Oh yeah... Gramma is busting buttons here!

Proud To Be Winnie's Grammy

When we were living on a farm in southeast Missouri a few years ago, our daughter Cari was attending college in Omaha, NE. She called me one day to ask if I could take care of her puppy (if she bought it) until she could get an apartment that took dogs. Well, since I was already running a Miniature Schnauzer rescue, and I was home disabled, it didn't seem like much of a leap to say yes! So Cari bought her puppy, brought her down to me, and left her with me for a couple of months until she got that apartment. My sister Celia brought our now-late mom, Norma, down to stay with me for a while so it was a bit of a family reunion for the weekend. Fun! Here is a pic of Winnie with me.

Favorite things to do with Winnie Mae

Winnie's mom, Cari, is great about taking Winnie on long walks and runs, and taking her to the "DP" (code for Dog Park). Winnie adores going anywhere with her mom. I remember when she was a little puppy, Cari sneaked her into Walmart in her ginormous purse! She is an extremely good mommy to her baby dog.

My favorite things to do with Winnie are just spending time with her petting her, brushing her hair, and dressing her up (which drives her mom nuts!!) Winnie is real cooperative but you can always tell she's not real thrilled to have clothes on!

A few of Winnie Mae's favorite things

She adores her toys! Every time she goes out the back door, she tries to sneak a toy out with her! Every now and then she succeeds, so we have to go out and retrieve the indoor fur toys from the dirt and mud, and they have to go to the laundry. I think her favorite toy has to be "Boo-Boo," one of those long stuffed dogs with the huge teeth! She's gone through at lesat five of them I know of. She tears out all their stuffing. Hey I'm getting wise - I'm starting to buy them and unstuff them myself!

Speaking of laundry... that's another of Winnie's favorite things! When Gramma goes downstairs to do laundry, SueSue, Ladybug and Winnie all have to come with. They get special chewy treats while they are down there. I think that's the big attraction!

This is the brush I use on Winnie, and the best brush I have ever used. The gel grip remodels easily and it feels great to use.
