Adobe Photoshop Tutorial - Black and White Photos
There are several ways in Photoshop to make your picture black and white. Here is one way that will allow you a pretty good amount of control over the final outcome of your image. Go to Image>Adjustments>Black and White, and you will see that your picture is instantly black and white.
The Black and White options box comes up. You can use the default settings, or choose a preset option from the drop down menu.
You can also customize your photo by using the sliders to adjust the intensity of the black and white tones.
You can make the dark parts darker and the light parts lighter by doing this next step. Go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast.
Make sure the Use Legacy box is checked.
Adjust the Contrast sluder until you get the look you want.
This next step is optional. It will add an antique element to your photo.
Go ti Filter>Noise>Add Noise.
Make sure the Monochromatic box is checked and choose Gaussian Distribution. Now add a small amount of noise to your photo. I recommend staying under 5%.
Your photo is now finished!
