Affordable Webdesign

In the beginning when your starting your business, organization, club, team, church or whatever you feel inspired to create, engineer, or build from the ground up; times can be both exciting and challenging. Exciting because you're doing something new and pursuing a dream. Challenging because you may not always have time for it, or have funds for it. On that note you know you need a great website but you don't know how to go about it nor do you have thousands of dollars to pay a professional web designer. There may be a day that comes when you need a professional but for now its just you. Despite not the day of small beginnings. There are some great tools for building websites out there. The one that I use is Wordpress. It is a free open source web publishing system. AKA you don't need to purchase it! This is a great bit of software because there is an enormous amount of customizable work you can do on it for your site and you can do it without using html coding. This is another great plus, because unless you take a class in html or web design then you are very unempowered to do anything web related. Also it should be noted that Wordpress is big. In fact almost 20% of the websites out there are Wordpress sites. That also means that there is plenty of free information, Hubs, videos, forums and so forth on how to make great Wordpress sites and to answer any questions you have. In this article I will be explaining how to create a great looking Wordpress site.

Purchase a Domain Name

There are numerous sites that can host your domain name. Do a little research to see who has the best rates for the longest amount of time to host your site. Try to choose a domain name that is both unique, catchy but also simple to remember. The following step is to type the domain name you want into your hosting sits domain search box. This search bar will search the internet over to make sure that there are no other sites that already use the domain you want to choose. If there are you simply need to come up with a new domain. Once you have a domain name that you like and are able to use then go ahead and purchase the domain and buy a hosting plan. For now, you're all done. You will need to wait a selected amount of time possibly even 24 hours for your C-panel to be set up.

If you chose one site to buy the domain name, site A and another to host it, site B then you will need to put in name servers which will allow the hosting page, site B to host the domain page. Your host server will send you the name servers over an e-mail. The name servers are a unique set of coding that will allow this connection. On site A, you should see a link or button that allows you to input costume name servers. This is where you should input the custom codes that Site B e-mailed you.

Now your ready for your C-panel to start building your web site!

The C-Panel

The Control panel is your back dock where you can build your site. The main thing you need to know is the button that will download Wordpress. Locate that button and follow the instructions. Its really easy. Once you have done so then you can click on the link it creates and open up Wordpress and the new basic site it has created for you. How exciting!

Once on your site you will be directed to the dashboard otherwise know as the backend or administrator. You can begin by picking out a theme that you like, is easy to customize, and that suites your needs. You will be able to customize your name, set your header image, and set up your site however you wish. You can also check out some of the great widgets that you may want. Add in social media links and much more content pertinent to your unique business.

Your three main buttons are going to be Post, Pages, and Widgets. Post is where you will place your content. It is where you will write out your mission, vision, goals, whatever you need. The Post page works very much like any word publishing software. It includes choices such as, Bold, Italics,Underline, add in Quotes, Links, media, numbered list and bulleted list, etc. Pages is where you can make an About Us page, Home page, Link page, Terms page, picture album and so forth. Widgets is where you can really get creative and customize your site to your hearts desire.
