I have never tried designing a Barbie outfit by crocheting vertically. Sure, I have tried patterns from other designers that use the same method, but I have never liked the result. There is just something about making loose fitting clothes for Barbie that I never liked, so I usually crochet horizontally to ensure a good fit. Since I wanted to make shorts with vertical stripes, I decided to add a drawstring at the waist to mitigate the problem of loose fitting shorts.

This hub is a free crochet pattern for Barbie Bermuda Shorts. It also includes a bonus pattern for a cropped top, which was previously done for a Pullip doll. This pattern was designed for a Barbie with a Model Muse body. For more information on the different body types of Barbie, please visit Crochet Clothes For Your Barbie Doll.
