The need to create.

I've found over the years that a lot of artist stand out from the crowd. We are the first ones to break the rules to see how far we can push them. We have a need to create. To shape this world we see around us to a vision of how we see it. We look at things in a different perspective. To keep moving forward and not let this world mold us into it's vision of us. Even the quiet artist that keep to their self. They too are looking to shape this world just the same. Looking back at history we see lots of the art created by our ancestors. But this need to create is okay. It will only make our planet better and a beautiful place to live in.

How do I become more creative?

Some of you reading this article will wonder how you too can become a creative individual. I'll list out a few ways to get you on your way. First off, be yourself! Don't try and become something your not. I know your thinking what does this have to do with art? Well being who you are will give your art a sence of style. And something that came from your heart. It is okay to use other art to inspire and give you a little direction. Start carrying around an art pad with something to draw with. You don't even have to draw sometimes. Even writing in your art pad will give you a form of expression. Doesn't have to be perfect if your just starting out drawing. Just get use to getting stuff out on paper.

A lot of times we don't put anything down on the paper in fear of being judged. Yes that is something you will have to accept as an artist. People will have their own opinions about what you create. I've had plenty of times someone saying that something I made they didn't like. Can't let others bring you down and stop you dead in your tracks. Like Dory says in 'Finding Nemo',"Just keep on swimming". You'll eventually get there! What? Yes I watch Finding Nemo! Again be yourself and keep creating.

And as hard as it is to hear someone critique your work. Listen with an open ear. Yes sometimes you will get haters not liking anything you do. And that's okay.

Find other creative people!

You should surround yourself with creative individuals. They will inspire you to do the same and challenge you to become better artist. You are the sum of people you surround yourself with. So don't be afraid to reach out to meet new people. I feel you will feel their creative energy and help you get an extra step to get you along your way. You can find these people at art shows and festivals. Just be open to meeting new people.

Places of inspiration.

For some of us we need a litttle jump start on getting inspired. One place I love to go when I have the chance is the Art museum. I get so inspired by seeing art up close and on big canvas. So many different artist to add some fuel to your fire.

The other place I like to get my inspiration from is nature. I'm not sure how often you look around you to see how beautiful this world is. We had a moth on our front porch the other day. Looking at the pictures taken of it looked almost alien. Again nature doesn't have to be big and in your face. Some of the best inspiration I get is from the smallest bugs and details.

And I'm sure you know the last place I'm gonna add. Thats right, the internet. Seems you can look up any type of imagery to get inspiration. Take advantage of this. I'll put it this way. When I was growing up we didn't an Internet we could run to. Any answers we needed we had to ask around or grab a book.

I hope this helps you out a little. Just remember be yourself and have fun creating art. Do what makes you happy. It can be frustrating and a little discouraging if our creations are not up to our expectations. But don't give up and keep moving forward. That's they key to a lot of things and not just being an artist. If you've read this till the end your on the right path. Because that shows you are moving forward. The need to grow and learn is a good thing. And our world will be a better place for it.

Art is boredom therapy and it's free. So, create and yes, be yourself!
