Car Sketches are your Food
Today I would like to tell you about car designers' favorite food: sketching cars!
Many times I wrote about the importance of sketching cars correctly, the illustration I published is made by designer Akos Szasz. His illustration is a good example of what I mean by good sketching.
This car sketch composition shows how exciting can be drawing cars. I imagine that Akos's drawing is part of a larger series of presented works, what is very interesting and well made is the composition and all details he has done to the sketches.
In his drawings, we can admire Akos' passions for sketching. Can you imagine how many sketches he drew before getting this one?
These drawings are another good example made by Brook Banham, another way of how we can describe on a white paper an idea with several drawings. The objective is to express ideas and creativity with a simple technique, good perspective and linework, line quality and shading, a focal point and a good simple composition.
This is to sell well your concept and make sure you keep high the client's attention watching your works. This is the importance of sketching and drawing well! A good sketch that explains clearly your concept will always be well accepted and not ignored.
Many times I have seen good ideas very badly represented, nobody paid attention to them. Was it right? Yes! Because we do not have too much time to discuss, lots of drawings to check, many presentations to listen to, how could we stop minutes on each single drawing?
Tamila's drawings about an Alfa Romeo MiTo research is again a good example of what I wrote before. Good ideas, good composition, nice illustration technique, focal point.
So once again my strong advice for all car design students is to keep on sketching cars and anything else you feel to draw. Make many sketchbooks, use this school time to train yourself as much as you can, this is your food...eat it and don't get tired of it.
