Color Your Way into the Magical Undersea World with the Little Mermaid

Everyone loves the magical world of the Little Mermaid and her life under the sea. She loves her home under the sea, but romance enters her life when a human prince finds her on the shore. They fall in love and the little mermaid must make a decision to leave her home under the sea and join the prince in his world on land.

The little mermaid is one of six sea princesses in her family. They live in a beautiful castle made of coral. Her father is a widower and loves his daughters very much. The little mermaid spends many nights looking out of the window and wondering what is above the surface of her sea world. The sea witch is instrumental in granting the little mermaid's wish to join the prince on land and become part of the human world. The story is one of romance and heartbreak when the little mermaid leaves her family to join the world of the humans.

Each page is filled with large detailed illustrations to color. Sea creatures, birds, and the mermaid characters are all included in the coloring book. Black and white pages are alternated with white pages of illustrations to add to the creativity of the coloring pages. The descriptive text throughout the coloring pages tells the story of the little mermaid and is presented in block letters that can also be colored. The coloring book includes the history of the story of the little mermaid.

The Timeless Author and Illustrator of The Little Mermaid

Hans Christian Anderson is a beloved storyteller and the story of the little mermaid is one of many favorites. Anderson was a Danish author who began to write as a young teen. He published his first two installments of his famous Fairy Tales in 1835. His stories were translated into 125 languages and became beloved around the world. His fairy tales became classics when translated into the English language, and influenced many British children's authors. There is a statue of the little mermaid in the harbor in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Edmund Dulac was a talented illustrator from France. He moved to London in 1904 and joined the London Sketch Club. This opened the door for him to be introduced to important book authors and illustrators of the time. He was commissioned to illustrate stories by the Bronte sisters, and in 1911, he contributed his talent to Stories from Hans Christian Anderson. His illustrations for The Little Mermaid are among the best known drawings for this beloved tale.

      Coloring books for adults is certainly a growing trend. In addition to relaxation and fun it is also nice that it can benefit people with cognitive disabilities.
