Changing styles in commercial photography
This was a commission from a Hampshire designer who had a client who needed to update their marketing material. This is a good example of when a good designer can influence a client into using a professional photographer to help with their marketing campaign.
I have noticed over the years that often a end client will be dismissive of having professional photography taken at their business premises as they tend to see it with their own view and not that of a photographer. They often say 'this place is not really photogenic', which is exactly the wrong way to look at commercial photography. Wether a place is photogenic is not really the point, the main thing is that the photographer can get some good strong visual images from a commission that will help with marketing. My client the Hampshire designer knew that I could shoot some striking images in and around the offices of his client. The business that I took these shots in was a fairly ordinary outfit based on a business park that could have been anywhere in the UK. By looking a different angles and taking selective photographs I managed to capture a good variety of photographs that would benefit current and future marketing for the business.
