Cricut Card Ideas for an Easy to make Happy Spring card

Updated on March 25, 2011

The calendar says the spring is officially here so I decided to welcome it with a "Welcome Spring" card. This is very easy to make using my Cricut Create Personal Cutting Machine and the Cricut Cartridges that go with it.

  • Cartridge: Spring Holiday Cards

  • Card Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

  • Speed: Medium

  • Pressure: Max

  • Blade Depth: 2

This is a great little cartridge from Cricut. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the Cricut Cartridges have but it does allow for a cute card that is easy to make. You can add embellishments and colors to jazz it up a bit.

Spring Holiday Cards

This is a fun little cartridge from Cricut called Spring Holiday Cards.  Each key creates a intricate cutout for the holiday in the spring.  Then you simply create a background for behind the cutouts.  There are small notches in each background for the cutout to slip right into.  It could even be used as a placecard for a spring holiday table or an invitation.

Step by Step Directions

Step 1  Cutting out the shapes

Cut 1 <Easter10>, Size 4"  This is the "Happy Spring" cutout

Cut 1 <Bckgrnd8>, Size 4" This is the background placeholder for "Happy Spring"

Cut 4 <Seal4>, Yellow Cardstock, Size 3 1/2"  These are the yellow tulip cutouts

Cut 2 <Seal4>, White Cardstock, Size 3 3/4" These are the White tulip cutouts

Cut 2 <Seal4>, White Cardstock, Size 4"  These are the White tulip cutouts

Cut 2 <Seal4>, Green Cardstock, Size 4"  These are the Green tulip cutouts

Adhering the Cutouts

Glue together the tulips

Step 1

Glue the two 4" Green tulips to the two of the 4" White tulips, offsetting them a bit so the white peeks thru.

Glue two of the 3 1/2" Yellow tulips on top of the 4" Green tulips/White tulips.

Step 2

Glue the two remaining 3 1/2" Yellow tulips on top of the two remaining 4" White tulips

Step 3

Glue the <Easter10> cutout to the <Bckgrnd8> cutout, there are little slots for each corner to go in.  Glue that to the card front, offset to the right.

Step 4

Glue the tulips to the left side of the card, arrange them to make room for a sentiment as seen below.

Step 5

If you have an acrylic stamp "Happy Spring", stamp it in between the tulip cutouts or you can neatly handwrite the sentiment.

Step 6

If you choose, you can use a marker to color in yellow on the <Easter10> cutout.

Step 7

Add a pretty bow to the top right of the card front.  Tie the bow as you would for a gift, then flatten it out a bit and arrange it.  I used 3/16" green ribbon.

Step 8

On the back of the card, you can choose to stamp an image; showing you are the creator of the card.
